Green Microgym collects Energy from Workouts!

Green Microgym collects Energy from Workouts!

Here’s a cool new gym in Portland, Oregon that collects energy from the work generated by people working out.  I think this is a great concept and should be applied to every gym.  In fact, they should make every gym machine so it can re-charge itself and other gadgets such as your cellphone.

The Green Microgym recently opened in Portland, Oregon - in addition to using solar panels and green building materials, they’re working with several companies that harvest power from gym equipment, including ReRev and Human Dynamo.

Dad’s Cab Taxi Meter for Making your Kids Pay!

Dad's Cab Taxi Meter for Making Money Off Your Kids!

Dad

Check out Dad’s Cab Taxi Meter that will let you charge your kids for any free “rides” they take from you in the form of cleaning dishes, mowing the lawn, and other household tasks.

Although I think this gadget is pretty pointless, the fact that it’s so pointless makes it funny to use.  It’s so ridiculous, it’s cool!

Gifts for dads don’t come much better than this Gift of the Year Award winner, Dad’s Cab. Dad’s Cab is a novelty taxi meter that comes with an assortment of forfeit cards that overworked dads can dish out to their blood-sucking children by way of a bill. Payments include ingenious tasks like ‘tidy your room’ and ‘make dad a cup of tea’ – that’s no more free rides for the kids and some well-deserved rewards for dad!

DIY - How to Hack your own Solar RC Car!

When it comes to building your own gadgets, nothing is better than a solar powered RC Car!

Of course, it only “charges” using solar cells, but this solar movement is helped greatly by DIYs like this.

Great job!

A rc car with two solar panels strapped up top for charging power. (Sorry no images) video coming soon. This is my first Instructable so be as honest as you can be

Bigger Diameter Contact Lenses for that Alien Look!

Bigger Diameter Contact Lenses for that Alien Look!

For people with small eyes or at least they don’t like to open their eye 100% (like me naturally), you can benefit from the extra, big contact lenses which can make you look like you never blink.

It seems that a few companies are now starting to produce Extra-Wide Contact Lenses which give you that deer-caught-in-the-headlights wide irised look. Ranging from prices between $30-$50 a pair, depending on the company you purchase from, cosplay was never this realistic.

$21,000 Wheel Speakers!

Posted in A+Featured Gadgets, Consumer, Cool, Design, Entertainment, Gadgets, Speakers by max on the August 9th, 2008 at 10:26 am

Yes, this $21,000 wheel-like speakers will blow you off as I would never pay that much for speakers.

Unless they mass-produce this and bring the price down around $210 not $21K, it will remain in the hands of uber-rich snobs who rather throw away money on gadgets like this.

Designed by Ron Arad and Frances Pellisari for Austria’s Viteo, the Freewheeler produces high quality stereo sound indoors or out. The speaker measures in at about 22.8″ tall x 9.8″ wide, making it just about the same diameter as the tires on a Mazda MX-5 Miata (and about 2x as thick).

Special Coating makes your Gadgets and Cellphones Waterproof!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Industrial, Video, cell phones, technology by max on the August 8th, 2008 at 11:20 am

Special Coating makes your Gadgets and Cellphones Waterproof!

WOw, here’s some new coating technology that’s going to be available soon to protect all your gadgets from water.

Of course, most of the time, your gadget will do fine even after water-submersion, but this coat pretty much makes your gadget water-resistant for hours!

I am not going to explain it, it’s probably better if you watched the video here.

Golden Shellback coating has an excellent ability to repel oils, synthetic fluids, hazardous materials, dust, dirt and water based solutions. Low surface tension values, such as water and oils will bead and drain freely from coated surfaces. The process produces a uniform, continuous, near hermetic coating that resists rain and humidity. Electronics casually exposed to water continue to work even after exposure. The coating is readily applied and not generally considered to be removable. Repairs are made using abrasive methods.
