Flashlight with Integrated Video Camera!

Posted in Cameras, Consumer, Cool, Design, Digital Cameras, Entertainment, Gadgets, Household, lights by max on the July 3rd, 2008 at 10:36 am

Here’s a cool flashlight that also embeds an integrated video camera.  How neat is that?

Now you can go in the dark and shoot your favorite videos with just a single flashlight.

There’s no word when this will be available in the U.S. though…darn.

The AD-1500 Video Flashlight records video with its mini CMOS camera and built-in microphone. As long as you’re not too intrigued by the rookie puking over in the corner, you could pick up every single bit of crime information, literally not being left in the dark. The camera records in MP4 format right onto microSD cards. Up to 2GB of video time, or around 180 minutes.

Google Media Server bridges the gap between Google and your TV!

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Google, Video, photography by max on the July 1st, 2008 at 9:22 pm

Google Media Server bridges the gap between Google and your TV!

Google has just announced their new Google Media Server, which supposedly bridges the gap between Google and your TV or any UPnP devices such as PS3.

It looks like a great way to organize your media files in your PC, especially if you are displaying them to your TV or simply want to access them from your PS3, XBOX, whatever.

Google Media Server is a Windows application that aims to bridge the gap between Google and your TV. It uses Google Desktop technology such as Desktop gadgets for the administration tool and Google Desktop Search to locate media files. All you need is a PC running Google Desktop and a UPnP-enabled device (e.g. a PlayStation 3). At the touch of a button, you can then:

* Access videos, music, and photos stored on your PC
* View Picasa Web Albums
* Play your favorite YouTube videos

CheckTap is a “Programmable” Power Tap Device!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Design, Earth, Energy, Gadgets, Household by max on the June 30th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

CheckTap is a \"Programmable\" Power Tap Device!

This is one of those gadgets, “why didn’t they think of this before?”.  The power tap device called CheckTap can be programmed via your PC through a USB cable to control and also schedule which and when your devices are on/off.

This gadget supposedly could save your home/office a whole lotta electricity, so long as you can “program” it.  I do assume that most people will be able to program this thing but do have my doubts that over 50% of population will probably be stuck trying to program it.  Maybe they can actually make a “smarter” device that you don’t have to program for the future and gadget-lovers like me.

DIY - How to Build a Skateboard-Windsurfer Thingee!

DIY - How to Build a Skateboard-Windsurfer Thingee!

I have always been fond of different windsurfing gadgets people bring to have fun over at Ocean Beach, here’s how to make your own skateboard-turned-windsurf thingee.

If this goes on sand, I might build one.

Here’s my contribution to the movement, a land windsurfer with a 3.6 meter lugsail.

It sails just exactly like a regular windsurfer. Sail tuning is a little different, due to having four corners to adjust rather than the old three. Study up on lugsail tuning.

    Recycled Record Case!

Here’s a cool recycled record case that you can store your good ol’ records in.

Designed with vintage record carrying cases in mind, with a new twist, this handmade box holds somewhere between thirty and forty seven-inch vinyl records - or whatever else you may want to store or take with you. Enjoy storing your records within a box made of records! What, no records to store you say? It would make a cool and truly unique purse as well.

    Solar Powered Glowing Flower Pot!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Earth, Gadgets, Solar, lights by max on the June 22nd, 2008 at 11:29 am

    Solar Powered Glowing Flower Pot!

Wow, check out this awesome solar powered glowing flower pot that conserves the sun’s energy during the day and glow the pot itself at night.  This might be useful at replacing those outdoor lights with a double-whammy pot/light.

The length of time the pot glows is dependent on the amount of sunlight the solar panel is exposed to during the day, but in the UK you’re looking at about 6-8 hours in the summer and 2-4 hours in the winter - more than enough for your average evening garden soiree.

    Dog MP3 is cute!

The Dog MP3 does not look like a dog.  Instead, it looks like a fluffy cloud with eyes and green tentacles.
