Zedomax AdTech 2008 Coverage - Etology.com offers Advertisers and Publishers Text Ads, Banners, Thumnails and more….

Posted in Cool by max on the April 21st, 2008 at 6:13 am

David, an affiliate manager from Etology.com, has given me a $25 coupon for FREE traffic for NEW affiliates.

To test out Etology.com and get $25 worth of free traffic from their advertising network, you can sign up for an affiliate account here, then use the coupon code01KLSY” at ad checkout to get the $25 of free advertising.

Here’s an interview with David from Etology.com:

(Thanks again David for the interview and your time!)

Etology.com offers a wide range of advertising/publisher’s programs including text ads, banners, thumbnails, and more. They offer a wide range of banner ads, which I liked since I need to be flexible when I am offering advertising on my blog.

etology

The greatest feature about Etology.com is that they allow you to set your own prices for your ads.

For mine, I chose a 125×125 pixel ad, I haven’t put it on this blog yet, but I will do that later this week to test out the effectiveness and also conversion rate of Etology.com.

You can also set your ad to be sold at market prices, which is great since there’s a standard price for the advertisers.

For advertisers, it seems like you will have tough time finding the right site to advertise on as there are so many sites at Etology.com as shown in this screenshot of their marketplace:

But Etology.com does offer personal support so you don’t have to do the work and let the affiliate manager find good ones for you.

Another great thing about Etology.com is that they offer 5% commissions on any affiliates you refer. So you can make 5% of any advertising that your friends sell.

I will be trying out Etology.com for banner advertising on my blog later this week and also a breakdown of all affiliate programs will be given at the end of all AdTech 2008 reviews.

Looks like this kid is gonna get more than just one Xbox.

You know, sometimes people don’t realize the power of the people on the internet.

Above video is where a kid gets an “X” box for Christmas with winter clothes inside it.

I guess Engadget posted this and Microsoft might be sending him a brand new real XBOX with probably more goodies than he can handle.

Great job guys.

We’ve been flooded with email from well-meaning geeks and even Microsoft; just about everyone wants to help us hook up Jonathan. We totally appreciate the sentiment, but we’ve got this covered. We think we’ve gotten in touch with his family (who let us know he never got an Xbox, and the whole thing really was a prank on the poor kid); once we know for sure we have the right people we’ll post again.

On another plus note, I got $5 from Big Pappa and $10 from Mike to get more Soju over at SiteHoppin.com. (Thanks guys, I will be able to afford brew for couple more days!)

Great wrist video player

Posted in Audio, Cool, Entertainment, Free, Gadgets, Music, Watches, cell phones, mp3 by david on the January 24th, 2008 at 12:00 pm

At first this will probably look as if you have a piece of old 35mm film around your wrist, but under closer investigation the device looks even more impressive than you would have imagined.

epaper

You get the standard time and date, but the best thing the fully functioning Mp4 player, which is just so cool.

epaper

This is a really sophisticated piece of kit.

Automatic Pilot Helicopters - MIT profs create autonomous UAVs

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Hack, Industrial, Travel by max on the November 28th, 2006 at 8:19 am

The MIT Team is using DraganFlyer helicopters, Gentoo Linux, Gumstix, and Vicon Motion Capture Systems and has sponsorship from Boeing.

Creating a robot that can manage to fly around a room on its own without hitting a wall is a mean feat to pull off, but that’s exactly what a team of professors at MIT have managed to do. Their multiple-UAV test platform is capable of complex tasks like following moving ground-based objects with little or no direct control from a human — yup, unfortunately that geek dream of a cockpit will no longer be required if these guys get their way. The current test setup is made up of $700 four-rotorblade helicopters, monitored by networked computers, which could theoretically allow a single person — or even a bored student with an internet connection — to control several UAVs at a time. Current flying drone systems require a team of trained personnel to keep a single UAV airborne and on target, so this endeavor is certainly a step up in software terms. How well the test system will transition from tracking radio controlled cars in a lab to lets say, a stolen car going at 125MPH, remains to be seen.

AirScooter II Ultralight Helicopter for 50Gs!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Gadgets, Travel, Video by max on the November 25th, 2006 at 8:32 am

http://zedomax.com/image/200611/airscooter.jpg

You gotta check out the supposedly $50,000 personal helicopter. It is now becoming more and
more practically for people to actually own a personal helicopter. The only thing is, it doesn’t look
like it’s too sturdy for any kind of bad wheather. Well, looks are not everything, maybe it will
perform under pressure.  Hackedgadgets have some more cool pictures…

The AirScooter uses a dual coaxial rotor system that eliminates the need for complicated swash plates and greatly simplifies the aircraft’s controls (unlike a traditional helicopter, the AirScooter II uses motorcycle-style handlebars). The design also eliminates foot controls and the tail rotor. The company reports a maximum speed of 55 knots (approximately 60 mph, in keeping with ultralight regulations) and a 2-hour range from the 5 gallon tank. Power is provided by a 65 HP AeroTwin 4-stroke engine.

For those who like the concept of a coaxial rotorcraft but don’t have $50G to burn, the company also makes the AirScoot R/C coaxial rotor hobby model. The complete radio controlled package with 10 cell battery pack sells for $695.

Alzip - Best zipping and unzipping FREE software

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Storage, download by max on the October 28th, 2006 at 2:50 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200610/zedomax_alzip_zip.gif

This is the best zipping and unzipping software I’ve found so far. It supports even linux tar tgz files!
Best of all, it’s free!

They even got some free FTP software called AlFTP, which is pretty neat too.

Since I switch back and forth between my Ubuntu linux desktop all the time, Alzip helps a lot when I need to find
certain files in a tar tgz files on my Windows system.

You can also download AlZIP and AlFTP on zedomax here:

mini Linux DIY - Re-partitioning your harddrive for Linux

Posted in DoItYourself!, Linux, Storage by max on the October 16th, 2006 at 3:37 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200610/zedomax_repartition.gif

Okay, today I was trying to re-partition my new HP laptop so I can install Linux without erasing my new Windows Media edition that came with it.  After downloading about a dozen partitioning software that don’t actually let you partition your drives unless you pay them like $50,  I found this GParted GOLive download, which is a Linux CD bootable disk that lets to repartition your harddrive with ease.  Yes, this one is FREE, these are the days I love Linux over Windows… You don’t need any knowledge of Linux, it just runs on Linux, just boot it up, re-partition and bam, you are ready to go without reinstalling Windows…  Well, one thing I had trouble was the video driver for my laptop, just select the mini-Vesa option at the start and you should be fine.  Hmmm, these little boot CDs are neat with Linux, you can put a whole operating system plus a little partitioning software under 30MB, something you can’t do with Windows…
