Well, I have to tell you the truth now. The truth? I did get to test all the Nokia 8800 series at the Nokia booth couple weeks ago at Web 2.0 Expo 2008.

The reason why I didn’t post my pics or videos is partly I didn’t have time to and also because the web browsers on the new Nokia are so horrible. They are not even recommended for any kind of web browsing as most sites will break.

However, I did find Nokia E90 had a great browser. Nokia needs to put that browser on their new phones.

I think all cellphone manufacturers should at least have a phone that lives up to the iPhone standards.

iPhone’s Safari supports Javascript, AJAX, and CSS among many other things Windows Mobile and Opera Mobile doesn’t support.

Now, if we can just get some WiMax to come through, that’d make perfect combo.

My suggestion? If you don’t care about the internet browsing capability, the Nokia looks great and you can get one but for me, it’s really “for show and no go” if the browser isn’t up to iPhone standards.

I had a chance to stop by Snap’s booth AGAIN after seeing them AdTech. So, I finally got Brendon to talk to me about their new publisher program that pays you for using Snap.com on your site.

Btw, Snap.com is a free service that gives you a snapshot of the hyperlinked URL when you hover over it.
I had this on some of my “failed” social networking sites over here.

By using their publisher program (which I believe is by invitation only), you can get a share of their ad revenue from those snap shots.  Of course, you need some good quality content and minimum traffic of 250,000 views or more per month.

I will be e-mailing Brendon soon and try out the publisher program to see if I can get better results than I am with my other advertisers.  I will have another review in about a month to tell you how it worked so make sure to subscribe to Zedomax!

Here’s a short video clip of what DynamicToolbar does. Basically they are a professional development company that specializes in building toolbars for companies who are looking for a customized service. Although I am building my SiteHoppin Toolbar from scratch by reading books, this might be a great way for companies that want a nice professional “customized” version.

There are lots of free tools out there to build a toolbar, but they usually come with extraneous stuff you don’t need and those free toolbars run really slow.

So check out DynamicToolbar if you are looking for a professional-grade toolbar done right.

Well, I ran into this nice lady who explained how VisualCV works at the Web 2.0 Expo.

I think it’s a really good idea that they’ve actually made resume into a Web2.0ish interactive media.

It’s basically a free service that let’s you build resumes for yourself or even companies.

Instead of sending attachments, now you can simply point to your online resume as mine here:

The greatest part about this VisualCV is that it comes loaded with widgets and AJAX drag and drop technology, so you can easily build a cool looking resume in just 5 minutes. (provided you already have an offline resume to copy and paste like me)

Anyways, check it out as these guys also even let you embed YouTube videos into your resume, how cool is that?  Another great feature is that there’s a PDF converter so your new employers can download the resume as PDF in a snap.

Of course, some of you guys are good enough to create all this from scratch but you do also get good online visibility of your resume on the site itself as VisualCV grows.

Jeffrey Walker, President of Atlassian.com, explains the benefits and some bullet-points about running Enterprise Wikis over at Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.

Atlassian, is btw, a company that specializes in Enterprise Wikis built for organizing large companies.

What is interesting to me is that these “wikis” have been replacing e-mails, documents, and all sorts of other technology of large companies.

Although it will still takes years before consumers can benefit from this technology, it’s good to learn from the guy behind one of the largest Enterprise Wiki companies.

I believe the technology is out there but we need more folks like Jeffrey who can integrate that into companies and also individuals.

FYI, SpringNote.com is a subsidiary of NcSoft.com, the creators of legendary online game, Lineage.

Well, I tried out SpringNote, here’s a screenshot:

It’s very simple to use, just like a real notebook except you have unlimited number of pages plus you get bunch of already-made templates like Bookshelf, Monthly Plan, Recipe, and etc…etc…

What I found most interesting was that it is a “wiki” site but you don’t need to know any wiki markup language and start editing your online notes right away. You also have the option to share your notes or keep them private.

As far as technology goes, I love the fact that SpringNote has incorporated a LOT of AJAX. (probably mostly AJAX)

I might start using it more real soon. The only downside I saw was that SpringNote’s servers are hosted in Korea. Although the site does fairly fast, I measured, 168ms ping times from my PC in San Francisco.

FYI, Zedomax.com get 41ms ping times, 4 times faster as servers are hosted in San Diego, California.

Although they could keep running servers from Korea, I think they can grab much larger audience in the U.S. by simply serving their pages from servers in the U.S. (Besides, it’s probably much cheaper to host it here.)

Other than that, I find SpringNote as the next generation online note web app. I will have to dump my MS Outlook all together and start using SpringNotes, way simpler and easier for mass collaboration.

Adobe Flex, will it be the next generation technology for Web 3.0? It’s hard to tell at this point as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for flash or flex has not proven to be great. Although you could make an opinion that flash or flex can be embedded in an HTML page, that’s still no where close to RSS and tags that blogs offer.

Today, I met when Steven (Stephen) Harris from WebSpiders.com, a Global IT Outsourcing company that specializes in development of Adobe Flex and AJAX web applications.

Steven was nice enough to show me a demo of how Flex will change how people shop online:

P.S. Excel Man was also spotted over at Expressocorp.com’s booth. (Now I think of it, there’s a guy inside it. Tomorrow, I will punch the Excel Man and see if I can get a reaction.)

Hi All,

It’s Web 2.0 Expo 2008 this week so I headed over to Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco.  Luckily, I was able to grab a free Press pass from Natalia Wodeck from TechWeb.com. (Thank you Natalia, very appreciated!)

First company we will be covering at Web 2.0 Expo 2008 is TellMe.com, a subsidiary of Microsoft that develops voice-activated mobile apps for cellphones.

TellMe has just launched their voice activated service for Blackberries, including Blackberry 8830, which I use personally.

Anyways, TellMe has basically extended the basic “voice-activated” functionality of the Blackberry to connect to Live search and also use the GPS service to pinpoint directions to your desired location whether that’s a mexican restaurant, club, or a bar.

I’d say kudos for this type of technology as it’s much better than calling an 800 number. (I am referring to Google’s 411 service.)

Although not a too big fan of the parent company, Microsoft, I am surprised that TellMe is available first on Blackberries and they are “still” working on TellMe service for Microsoft’s Mobile powered cellphones. (Kudos for that!  They actually care about users more than monopolizing mobile OSes.)

It looks like Microsoft is trying to kill two birds with one stone, targeting Google’s 411 service and GoogleMaps with this TellMe aquisition. Well, I am not biased at all so let the best be the winner here!
