DIY HACK - HOWTO build a “Fire Alarm” Alarm Clock

Posted in Circuits, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Hack, Projects by max on the January 14th, 2008 at 6:12 pm

Fire Alarm Alarm Clock

Wow, this has to be the loudest and best solution for you doozers.

Ever sleep-in because your alarm clock wasn’t loud enough? With this design that is guaranteed not to happen! This hack takes a standard cheap alarm clock, some interface components and a fire alarm bell to get the job done right. Normally these small alarm clocks use a piezo buzzer to attempt to wake you up. The alarm signal is hijacked from the clock circuit board and used as an input to the interface board

Wow, check this out. DYMO’s DiscPainter can help you create professional quality CD covers so you can keep working from home like me. :p

The DYMO DiscPainter creates excellent artwork for your CD’s and DVD’s, and it does it in a speedy fashion, but the real downfall of this device is the cost of operation. The device itself costs $280. The ink cartridges cost $39 a piece, which puts the the cost per disc at $0.39 for the cost of ink alone. You also have to factor in the cost of the CD’s, DVD’s, or miniDisc’s. DYMO recommends using waterproof glossy or matte finish CD-R’s, which can cost about $0.50 a pop. The manufacturer claims a lifespan of the DiscPainter at 2,000 uses. So when you do the math, you are looking at roughly $1.00 per disc (printer, CD/DVD’s, ink).

DIY iPod HACK - Add Bluetooth to your iPod!!!

Posted in Audio, Circuits, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Gadgets, Hack, iPod, mp3 by max on the January 6th, 2008 at 3:55 pm

Add Bluetooth to your iPod

Tight, here’s some cool hacks on adding bluetooth to your iPod!

1st Ever Bluetooth-Enabled iPod!

If you’re like me, you’ve often asked yourself why Apple has not added native Bluetooth capability to their iPod line up. Even the iPhone only supports mono Bluetooth!

Sure, there are numerous adapters that plug into the iPod’s dock connector to give you wireless music, but they are clunky, they come off easily, can’t use them with your case and you have to charge them separately!

So, here is my way to add “native” internal Bluetooth support to your 4G iPod. The same method may be used with other iPod versions, I leave that up to you.

DIY - HOWTO Take your life back from your computer!

DIY - HOWTO Take your life back from your computer!

Lol…here’s a DIY that will help you get away from the computer. Well, after this post, I am going to the beach baby! (great thing the Pacific Ocean is only 5 minutes away from my apartment) When we come back from the beach walking my girlfriend’s brother’s dog (that we have been dog-sitting for couple days), I will post some videos of the Pacific Ocean so don’t get jealous. :p Peace OUT!

Plan specific activities away from your computer
If you don’t plan specific activities for whilst you’re away from the computer, then you are much more likely to fall into the trap of aimless surfing or playing Solitaire when you have spare time to kill or just need a break from the work.

If you have noticed our post about how to be a moron and learn to not be rich, that WAS a big joke so go check out Can’t Get Rich and learn how to double your traffic by collaborating on a “set” blog-fight and talking trash all day long to bring more traffic.

BTW, Geoff, that was a lot of fun. Let’s do another one soon. We will have to stage it better or pick a more popular topic I guess…
