BagWhiz, a Bag Blog about Luxury Handbags Launched!

Yey, we just launched another blog from our Zedomax Blog Network called BagWhiz, a blog about luxury handbags.

Why?

Well, bags are a great niche for blogging, you can read about my niche blogging strategies on my Adsense Optimization Blog over here.  I will be writing a book shortly called, “How to Make Money with Adsense and Blog Networks”, so watch out for that.  I should either be selling it for a little money or give it out for free as an e-book.

Am I a bag addict?

Oh no, but I made this blog for bag addicts.  If you are a bag addict, please do check out our new blog and bookmark it or at least tell your girlfriend about it.

BagWhiz, a blog about luxury handbags and bag reviews, was just launched by our blog network.

You will find interesting stuff like Coach Bags, Fendi Bags, LV Bags, and more.

You can also find the highlights of last 10 posts of Bag Blog or any of our other blogs at the bottom of this page.  (way at the bottom!)

Make Money Online DIY - How to Make More Money with Adsense and Chitika Optimization using my Heat Map!

Posted in A+Featured DIYs, Advertising, Blog, Business, Business Ideas, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, HOWTO, Make Money Online, Web, money by max on the September 27th, 2008 at 2:42 pm

Well, it’s not that often I tell my readers/newcomers about my money making secrets but here’s a heat map that I’ve created to maximize income from my blogs.

Now, this is a proven heat map for making the “most” money online with blogs.

It’s a rather “in-your-face” type of advertising where you force your visitors to really read your Adsense or Chitika ads.

Why do I do this type of “before-content” advertising?

Because it gives you the most bang for your buck.  Of course, if you have a million dollars of funding and you are simply trying to promote your brand, you could go without advertising.  But for people like me who depend on Adsense and Chitika to pay rent, it’s crucial that money keeps rolling in the bank, otherwise this site wouldn’t be paid for and there would be no more websites.

If you think it’s too much advertising, think of it this way.  (Provided you live in the U.S.,) Can you tell me how many full 20-second advertisements you see on every TV show?

Yes, probably 3 or 4 and you don’t mind it because you need to keep watching the TV show.

It’s the same thing in blogging and you need to really force ads down the readers throat per say.  It’s not the most nice way to make money, but heck, sometimes you gotta do what needs to be done.

Anyway, I hope this heat map helps you make more money online as I have worked on this for last 5-6 months or so optimizing it.  (Yes, I did the analysis and optimization for you so all you have to do is follow it.)

Now, please don’t complain there’s too many ads on this site unless you would like to pay for my rent and credit card bills.

Google Chrome Hacks Blog Launched!

Google Chrome Hacks Blog Launched!

Google Chrome Hacks Blog was launched today.

We had to settle on Chrome-hacks.net although we wanted to get Chromehacks.com.

We will be doing a lot of posts on the latest tips, hacks, and other news just for the Google Chrome browser so make sure to subscribe to RSS feed.

For the mother of God and for whatever reason, we just launched another new blog, of course it’s called Google Chrome Hacks Blog.

Basically, the blog will cover all kinds of tips, hacks, and news about the new Google Chrome Browser.

It took us exactly 2 hours to sign up for a domain name at godaddy, stuff it with Wordpress plugins and themes, write 5 blog posts.  (Not too bad of a start ey?)

New blogs are always great opportunities to pounce on, especially if it’s new technology.

Where did we get the idea for Google Chrome Hacks Blog?

Well, you should take a looky at iphone-hacks.com and their stats.  (It’s like they simply took a knife and stuck it on a whale before the it leaped)

For how to make money blogging, make sure to check out our Adsense Optimization Blog.

SiteHoppin Private Beta Toolbar v.1.3 Out!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, SiteHoppin, Social Bookmarking, Social Networking, Web, WebApp by max on the May 26th, 2008 at 9:07 pm

SiteHoppin Private Beta Toolbar v.1.3 Out!

SiteHoppin Private Beta Toolbar v.1.3 is now out, which integrates online tagging/hopping together.

What does it do?

Basically, it allows you to “hop” your favorite bookmarks using tags.  (I cut down about 20 minutes of time in browsing tech blogs I go to.  You could probably save a lot of time using this function if you visit 10-20 same sites daily)

We still got a lot of improving to do but the beta version is out so get it here. (If you need an invite, send me an e-mail at zedomax [at] gmail.com)

How to “not” to respond to a blog review!

Posted in Blog, Business, Cool, Entrepreneurs, Web, WebApp by max on the May 3rd, 2008 at 3:44 am

Hi folks, I did a review on how easy it is to start a 125 pixel exchange network. Of course, it was an “honest” opinion as every review on Zedomax.com is.

But this morning, I woke up to find out this e-mail from the owner of Nuacco.net from S. Masterov portachi@gmail.com:
(Normally I don’t disclose the parties but in this case, I felt more righteous to disclose it.)

hi,

here are some stats from your nuacco.net account:

You have send 348 clicks to network

You have received 586 from the network

And here quote from Your site “(Compare us to ratios like 2:1 (Spottt.com), 10:1 (Nuacco.Net)”

so I want to say Fuck You and Your account has been banned @ nuacco.net

Now I could be very nasty and tell him lots of stuff, but the point of this post is not to respond to a blog review with anger, no matter how negative it is for your service or product.

The above real life example shows Nuacco as very unprofessional and does not explain anything. A better way would to explain in detail how they can improve their service and how I could make changes to get a better ratio.

I myself have been guilty of doing such things, but with time and experience, anger will never help you. You can read about how to remove anger over at my friend’s Deimos blog, a great story by the way.

Why?

Well, in internet marketing, any review is a good review and you get more online exposure. There’s no positive or negative. If you get a link back from an established blogger, you should thank him regardless of the review itself as that all funnels into more PageRank for you and people find out about your service/product.

Even this post itself is actually helping Nuacco get more online presence.

I’ve actually stopped using Nuacco on Zedomax.com long time ago simply because they offer 2:1 impressions ratio for the first month or so and it goes all the way down to 10:1 impressions.

I had couple Nuacco widgets on my other smaller blogs but I guess I will have to remove them all now.

The number of clicks I got from Nuacco probably consists mostly from when I used it on Zedomax.com in the first month when they give you free 10K impressions plus the 2:1 impressions. So in all, the guy didn’t do a full detailed analysis of my recent stats.

Final Thoughts

Well, I don’t really give a &*&* about Nuacco’s service or Spottt or any other 125 banner exchange service as it gives me maybe 20 clicks at most to Zedomax.com. Compare that to 10,000 views Zedomax.com from natural traffic. I usually end up the too nice guy who helps someone else in exchange for clicks that don’t bring in any revenue.

I am currently using 125exchange.com, only because the owner was very positive and even bought a Beer Stock from me over at SiteHoppin.com. Now 125exchange.com also doesn’t really help my traffic, but I use it because I like the guy behind it.

Now, I have been very positive about Nuacco service until this morning when I got the e-mail. I hope you guys are happy now that I did another review for you. And next time, check my site stats before telling me you will ban me. I will probably ban you more than you will ban me.

In business and life, you need a positive outlook on everything. Without that, you will miserably fail even if you have a million dollar VC funding.

Okay, thanks for reading today’s rants, now to move on with life and technology…

Web2.0 Expo - Stewart Mader from Wikipatterns Interviewed!

Posted in Blog, Business, Cool, Educational, Social Networking, Video, Web, WebApp, Wiki by max on the April 24th, 2008 at 12:14 pm

free-book

If you don’t know wikis, it might be a good time for you to get familiar as wikis have not been fully utilized as blogs have been. (Before you know it, the world will become a “wiki wiki” world…)

As a wiki fanatic myself as I have built the world’s first-ever MediaWiki based social networking site, I am a collector of any new books related with wikis in general.

One of the books that I haven’t gotten a hold of was, wikipatterns by Stewart Mader, creator of wikipatterns.com. I am a big fan of anyone who’s creating new sites with wikis so…

What intrigued me about his creation Wikipatterns.com, is the idea itself, not really the software built on it. I am still dumbfounded about what wikipatterns exactly is but Stewart was nice enough to explain it to me in plain English at Web2.0 Expo today:

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

(Thanks Stewart, and thank you for the book! I love wiki books, make sure to check out my wiki creation too, SiteHoppin.com!)

Stewart also runs Grow Your Wiki blog, check it out as it has lots of interesting stuff for all you wiki lovers.

I will probably do another write-up after I finish the book so hold on while I get all that wiki stuff in my head and spit it back out to you readers in plain English.

Wikipatterns, btw, is based on Wiki software by Atlassian, a company who specialized in Enterprise Wikis.

We will have a short video re-cap by Atlassian’s president, Jeffrey Walker in a little bit, explaining further the advantages of using wikis to replace e-mails and documents.

What do you think, will Wikis be the future of mass collaboration? (If it isn’t already?)

DIY Linux HACK - HOW TO optimize your Wordpress Blog, MediaWiki, or any other high load website with Compression!

Posted in Blog, CPU, Computer, Linux, Ubuntu, Web, WebApp, Wordpress by max on the February 24th, 2008 at 6:37 pm

Well, we did a lot of server hacking before with some MySQL, eAccelerator, and httpd.

There’s a lot of major blogs out there I have checked using Web Page Compression Tool that are not using compression. (For one, I checked John Chow’s blog)

Try to check one of your posts instead of checking your main URL as the tool is funky with root domains. (e.g. Check http://zedomax.com/blog/2008/02/23/never-give-up-especially-your-blog-dude/ instead of http://zedomax.com)

Here’s a screenshow of compression test I did for one of John Chow’s posts:

a

As you can see, John Chow’s blog does not use compression. As a result, he’s losing out on almost 5 times of bandwidth!!!

With level 9 compression, his site could be loaded on your web browser at 21K instead of the whopping 100K.

Now the compression might not be for all of you with slow CPUs. Our Zedomax.com runs on Quad-CPU server which has a lot of CPU processing power.

Here’s a screenshow of my server under normal load:

DIY HACK - HOW TO optimize your Wordpress Blog, MediaWiki, or any other high load website with Compression!

As you can see, most of the time, my CPU is idling at 80.8%! That means my CPU is pretty much sitting on its ass instead of doing work for me.

Now, if you have a similar situation, compression will help your site load faster and also bring your load down so you can handle more traffic.

Here’s how to enable compression if you have a dedicated or access to root on your server:

(Most servers have zlib installed, if you don’t have zlib installed, you will have to install that first, you can check it by making a test file and putting <?php phpinfo() ?> and search for zlib)

Add the following lines to your /etc/php.ini:

zlib.output_compression = on
zlib.output_compression_level = 5

and then restart apache! (of course):

httpd -k restart

Now, go check one of your posts on the Compression Test Tool here.

b

As you can see above, I just compressed one of my blog posts by a whopping 76.1%!

If you are using Super Cache plugin for Wordpress, make sure to go to options and do this too:

Enable Super Cache Compression

Now, your server will run faster since there’s less data being transmitted to your visitors, meaning you save bandwith, time, and most importantly, the ability to handle more traffic.

At 70% increase in bandwidth, that could translate to that many more visitors too as bandwidth is directly proportional to amount of time a visitor stays on your site. (Yes, I did take Calculus in college, I failed miserably before passing.) The less time a visitor takes to load a page on your blog or your site, the more time and bandwidth you have for other visitors.)

I was searching through the web for many ways to use compression for server optimization but I couldn’t find any so I sort put everything together here.

Hopefully, it helps you.

And one more thing, you can also check out this great tutorial on your httpd.conf setup.

You can always check out HOWTO decrease load on your server by 5 times also.

The biggest pyramid “splog” scam in this world today - StumbleUpon =Spambleupon

Posted in AOL, Blog, Google, Social Networking, Web, Wordpress, Yahoo by max on the February 4th, 2008 at 9:34 pm

Okay, I will have to tell you the truth tonight about one of the biggest social networking sites, SpambleUpon, or most people call it, StumbleUpon.

They are making so much money off bloggers, basically StumbleUpon “scrapes” bloggers’ content and makes millions of dollars off you!  Even though no one has really “sued” them, they are in big trouble if bloggers start sueing them one by one.

Google should really ban them for “splogging”, every one of SU users’ blogs are “splogs” made up of content written by bloggers like you and me. (My traffic actually boosted after SU banned me, I think I was getting penalized for duplicate content by using SU.  Besides, don’t rely on backstabbing social networks who make millions dollars off your content and simply ban you later for “spamming”???  Are you kidding?  Go look at my DIYs, they are all original.  Lol…at least my blog isn’t full of splogs.  Here’s a post you can read about how to protect yourself against splogs although it won’t work with SU.)

Why?

Well, every “blog”, they say, is a “splog”, every image consisting of an image scraped off a “copyright protected” blog (Mind you, every “blog” is actually naturally protected from scraping, this site has about 10 other sites’ images w/o their written permission) . So, we simply took at the most top-left blog on their “Top Stumbler” list.

Well here it is:

SpambleUpon

As you can see, the image is “scraped” off another “original” blog. If you go to any of their “splogs”, the results is the same. They almost store 0% of their “splogs” images on their servers and simply scrape and live off other blogsSU is like a real big mosquito that lives off your blood, your blog post that “you” wrote and uploaded images. Their future will only rely on other bloggers’ content and NEVER their own.

So, what can you do?

You can always file a “copyright enfrigement” notice and lawsuit to SU, which their headquarters addresses I couldn’t even find, AND uninstall that hideous toolbar that takes too much of your life, time, and 50 pixels of height on your browser. (Most of their admins are “fake” people behind stupid 50×50 pixel images. They “pretend” they created a special technology when I could re-create a similar service within days.)

Then, simply head over to SiteHoppin, where every site is not “splogged” and is simply “bookmarked”.

Okay, here’s the 5 second wrap up:

1. Every blog on StumbleUpon is a “splog” made up of scraped images and text from other blogs

2. The only reason they don’t get sued is because they send websites traffic and a lot of website owners are happy about that.

3. Every blog in the world has now a “copyright enfringement” against SpambleUpon. If your content is on SU, you deserve the right to sue them for scraping your content.

Now, we don’t have to sue them. You do. So, in all, just stay away from these SpambleUpon guys and stick with the American Dream, SiteHoppin, where “real” developers develop w/o scraping bloggers’ content.

Now maybe we may be a little bitter but at least we fight for our right to be conscious about the “real truth” behind everything. Yeah, SU fucked up this time bad….real bad…let the truth be known even if you do continue to use SU, you will remember this when you get banned.

Here’s the address to send your copyright infringement letters about their “Splogs”: (This is the only real contact info you can find on their site baby)
