Viva Las Vegas Electrical Swirl

Viva Las Vegas Electrical Swirl

Now, here’s an artwork that’s composed of swirling electronics.  It doesn’t seem to be too hard to make since all you’d need is some working, recycled electronic parts and stuff them into a big wire tree but it does kinda remind me of Las Vegas, that is of drunken lights. (or is it lights seen after 2 gallons of margarita?)

Bio Infections Laptop Sleeves!

Although this Bio Infectious laptop sleeve won’t protect you from most thieves, it could easily deter those “dumb” thieves who might actually read the label here…

The Designer Sleeves line of electronic protection cases has graphic capabilities that go beyond single colors or basic print patterns. Our “Subliprene” print process allows us to print high quality, full color graphics on each one of our 3 panel sleeve designs. These colorful graphic designs and licensed artwork bring fashion and style to life on each laptop case. In addition, we have the capability to take any design and personalize it with your name or company logo.

The time capsule DVD left on Mars for future Martians

Posted in Consumer, Funny, Gadgets, Stupid by max on the May 28th, 2008 at 2:16 pm

Lol, special silica-gel DVD (that lasts up to years) has been left on mars for future Martians to pick it up and load it onto their PCs… Who’s working at NASA? Where is my tax money going to? Some dumb folks?

Okay, that was kinda pointless to assume an alien could understand DVDs.

The disc - being described as the first interplanetary library - is made of a special silica glass designed to last hundred, if not thousands, of years into the future.

It also holds a collection of Mars-themed artwork, including a poster from a 1936 Flash Gordon film Mars Attacks the World and Orson Welles’s 1938 radio broadcast of War of the Worlds. Patrick Stewart as Star Trek’s Captain Picard also makes an appearance on the DVD.

The idea is to give future Martians a snapshot of how they were viewed on Earth - though, considering some of the content, it may not be met with the most favourable reception.

Super Mario Brothers Car in Russia!

Posted in Cars, Consumer, Cool, Entertainment by max on the May 18th, 2008 at 9:38 am

Super Mario Brothers Car!

Check out this beautiful super mario brothers car! You will need to be an old-school NES fan like me to appreciate such artwork.

Even better, would someone come up with a “playable” super mario bros car?

..it’s the amazingly accurate and detailed Mario paint job. The mural contains Goombas, pipes, coins, blocks, red-shelled Koopas and of course, Mario-himself

Bruce Shapiro explains his Artwork Sisyphus at Maker Faire 2008

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Design, Educational, Gadgets, Motor, Video by max on the May 6th, 2008 at 6:49 pm

sisyphus

I had a chance to talk with the creator behind a cool Sisyphus. Here’s a video of the Sisyphus explained:

This was probably the coolest thing I saw at the show. Bruce really is an innovator in art of motion.

Bruce has lots of other interesting project you can check out at his website, taomc.com.

Here’s an excerpt from his website about his work:

Despite the universal use of motion control in industrial settings, its use by artists has been hampered by the enormous cost of commercial equipment. Therefore, the only means for artists to explore this new medium is to build their own equipment from scrapped components of industrial machines. I have spent the past 15 years pursuing this goal. In so doing, I find myself on an unpredictable path winding through three landscapes: science, art, and education.

DIY - Frontier Labels for adding graphics to your next product

DIY - Frontier Labels for adding graphics to your next product

This is a paid review on ReviewMe.

Check out Frontier Labels for your next graphics job, whether that’s preparing a sample for your next client meeting or it’s for your mom-and-pop online store.

It looks like they’ve got a wide range of sizes for your next project that requires labels. I am even thinking of ordering one of their free samples for my websites.

DIY - Frontier Labels for adding graphics to your next product2

Looks like they have some great pressure sensitive machines. I tell ya, I’ve tried some printing companies and it came out horrible. Frontier Labels allow you to get free samples so it looks like you got nothin’ to lose on that part. It’s a great thing when companies stand behind their products simply by offering samples. Which, I might add, these labels probably get used a lot for another sample.

They also offer Artwork help, which means they are probably not another online mom-and-pop store. This company has been around since 2004, most likely a great company to get your labels done.

Another great feature is their automated Instant Quote, so you can find out how much it’s going to cost you.

Lastly, they do offer 1-day shipping, which would probably most critical in the labels business.

Has anyone tried this company? If so, please leave a comment.

Check out http://www.frontierlabel.com here.

DIY - HOWTO create professional look to your cds using the DYMO DiscPainter CD/DVD Printer!

DIY - HOWTO create professional look to your cds using the DYMO DiscPainter CD/DVD Printer!

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Wow, check this out. DYMO’s DiscPainter can help you create professional quality CD covers so you can keep working from home like me. :p

The DYMO DiscPainter creates excellent artwork for your CD’s and DVD’s, and it does it in a speedy fashion, but the real downfall of this device is the cost of operation. The device itself costs $280. The ink cartridges cost $39 a piece, which puts the the cost per disc at $0.39 for the cost of ink alone. You also have to factor in the cost of the CD’s, DVD’s, or miniDisc’s. DYMO recommends using waterproof glossy or matte finish CD-R’s, which can cost about $0.50 a pop. The manufacturer claims a lifespan of the DiscPainter at 2,000 uses. So when you do the math, you are looking at roughly $1.00 per disc (printer, CD/DVD’s, ink).

The evolved typewriter

Posted in Circuits, Computer, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets, Robots by david on the November 23rd, 2007 at 6:00 am

This is the future for all of those unwanted typewriters, yes that is right all those old typewriters that have been abandoned by their owners and left in cupboards and basements are evolving into terminators.

tman

Or maybe it is just a piece of artwork which just happens to use all of the old components from a typewriter that was left lying around, it looks pretty cool and is an excellent use of an old piece of equipment.

I still prefer the first explanation!
