Here’s a really fun DIY that shows you how to make a generator from your old washing machine parts.

Sounds like a great deal for me if you can somehow recycle energy with this method.

Someone at some point discovered that these also make near perfect generators with great efficiencies, especially at lower speeds. These have also been found to have numerous other advantages.

OK MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE GENERATOR MADE OUT OF THE WASHING MACHINE MOTOR. SEE I’M NOT ELECTRICIAN SO I HAVE NO KNOWLEGE ON THIS TOPIC.
SO HERE IS THE QUESTION AFTER U DO ALL THE WIRING WHAT DO U DO WITH THE REST OF EXCEEDING RED WIRE AND HOW DO I MAKE IT RUN?

I WILL APPRECIATE YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEGE .

    Hi Cesar,
the whole thing needs to be secured to a plate, using the other parts rescued from the washing machine, i.e. shaft, bearing, fixing plate etc. You then need to attach a device to drive the generator. I intend to use a “lenz” type vertical shaft wind catcher.
The wiring – as I read it from the instructions – needs to be converted from 3 phase to 2phase using the bridge rectifiers, to produce 12v DC. This output (12vDC) is then used to charge a battery bank of your choice.
I haven’t yet worked out how best to switch between “star”(3 red wires) and “delta”(6 red wires) formation but I will share my thoughts on how to do that when I have actually tried a couple of ideas.

P.S. I am lucky enough to be able to get hold of plenty of these washing machines – currently have about a dozen and more where they came from – so I can try out any ideas anyone might have. Contact through this forum with any suggestions please.
