Hey here’s a cool feed reader you can make. (Hey, Phillip, send me a make mp3 so i can start hacking it, we are in hibernation ‘cauz we really need a desktop mp3 player…)

Okay, we agree that we request too many free stuff but at least we do make things…hopefully a lot of them when we get out of our weird hibernation mode right now…

In the meanwhile, do check out our new video site dabomb.tv!

P.S. Yes, my work address is:

550 Pilgrim Dr.Ste.K

Foster City, CA 94404

If anyone has some cool peripherals (such as GPS modules and whatnot), please feel free to send them here, we will make sure to hack it and make a new DIY…
Send us SAMPLES! Yes, we are cheap but at least we are doing somethin’ hehe….

P.S.2. We’d like to know what is the best e-cart shopping mall software or package to use, if you are an expert in this, let us know since we are thinking about opening some new stores…

Touchscreen iPhone like LG Prada brings competition

Posted in Audio, Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Gadgets, cell phones, mp3 by max on the January 25th, 2007 at 6:56 pm

Here’s the cool LG Prada phone that’s making consumers wonder whether to get this or
the iPhone. We will have to get some videos on direct performance between these
two when they are available. Touch screen interfaces are really becoming da bomb
these days… I My personal suggestion is to get one iPhone and one Prada and share it among
your loved ones swapping it with a SIM card… (Will both support SIM cards? That’s the
big question)

The first completely touch screen Prada phone by LG (KE850) is a real breakthrough in the industry, as it is a unique, sophisticated and elegant mobile phone with its first complete advanced touch interface. The entire LG KE850 Prada phone resembles the Apple iPhone announced by the US Company earlier this year.

DIY HACK - Build a Six-Axis 3D Controller (3D mouse)

Check out this awesome 3D mouse you can build using some creative hacks!

I’ve been exploring 3D graphics using VVVV. One of the things you quickly learn when working in 3D is that doing anything with a 2D mouse is a pain. Particularly I found I was spending a lot of time shuffling the camera position which involves a tricky combination of keystrokes and mouse movements. I wanted to get a camera control that would allow me to fly the camera smoothly in 3D space.

Looking for “3D Mice” in Google found a variety of more-or-less ugly and expensive commercial options, but also this project linked off Slashdot. Humm I thought, how hard could that be to copy.

The basic principle of Three Blind Mice is to run three threads round three rollers from old mechanical mice. By using the mouse reports to calculate the length of the extended thread this allows the position where all the threads join to be calculated. First job was to interface the mice to a PC. I am using old Microsoft Itellimice. The “z” axis on these mice which measures the position of the wheel is very low resolution and not suitable for this application. So, you need two mice to get the three axis of measurement required.

Here’s a cool robot!

It can play music, dance, respond to voice commands for performing simple actions, respond to applause and other user actions and even play drums. Takara Tomy is also working on the Omnibot2007 i-SOBOT CamVersion which will come with a 300k pixel camera so it can transmit photos to your PC or Phone using Wi-Fi and a swiveling head with an angle of 60 degrees

DIY - Cool prototyping technique!

Posted in Circuits, Cool, DoItYourself!, Microcontroller by max on the January 24th, 2007 at 1:43 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200701/prototyping-technique.jpg

Check out this great prototyping technique! Thanks dwrenne!

To build any electronics handicrafts, there are some wiring materials. I think most people are wiring circuit board with PTFE (Teflon) insurated wire. But the PTFE wire is not suitable for wiring material with solder due to following reasons.

  • Wires on the circuit board gets like a dish of pasta when wired many number of wires because its insulator is tick.
  • And changing a part of the circuit will be difficult.
  • Working efficiency is not good, each wire must be stripped to be solderd.

So I recommend to use UEW for protoboard. The UEW is polyurethane coated copper wire which is used to inductors and small transformers. This wiring method is minor way, yet. However, it has cleard that problems, so that it is better way for wiring on the protoboard.
To wire with UEW, a wiring tool called “wiring pen” is used. The wiring pen is often sold with PCB kits, however, they are not useful because its tip is dull. When you did not satisfy bought wiring pen, it will be better to build it yourself. I built the wiring pen from a drawing pen.
