It makes no difference where this comes from this is a real flash that has around 16 Gb of data, now that is not a great deal when you consider the 128 Gb flash drive from Kingston. However, this is the aluminium flash drive that doubles as a puzzle of sorts too.

There are five aluminium cubes measuring around 72 mm on each side, it is an interesting concept that has to be put together correctly otherwise it is just not going to go back together again. With a price tag touching $10,000 that just would not do.

It has been some time since the first time that a universal mobile phone charger was spoken about and as usual, the idea of such a convenient device has been put onto the back burner. Here’s a South Korean farmer who has managed to get 80 satellites up and running as shown here. The main reason is to actually get more channels for the foreign-born women who get married in rural Korea:

In South Korea, which had once prided itself on being a homogeneous society, 4 out of 10 women who married in rural communities last year were foreign born. In Yeongju alone, the number of foreign wives increased by 28 percent in the past year and a half, to 250, half of them from Vietnam.

“These women have a hard time fitting in. The local governments, and the husbands, often focus only on making them ‘Korean,’ teaching them the Korean language and computer skills,” said Mr. Lee, 39, who has never married. “They don’t quite understand how isolated these women feel.”

Anyway I look at it, this isn’t just another farmer, maybe Mr. Lee needs to stop farming and start a new broadcasting company.

I recently discovered Pachube and have just fell in love with it.
This is a video of my first Pachube project and what I’ve been able to do. I connected two light sensors to an Arduino. One sensor measure light levels in my room, the other measures light levels outside.
The Arduino is connected to a computer running Processing, and it forwards the sensor data to Pachube.

The recession economy is increasing auto insurance fraud like no other in history. According to Autoblog,

Despondent over being financially strapped and unable to cover car payments, vehicle owners are ditching, sinking, or torching their vehicles and reporting the loss to collect insurance payoffs.

It is definitely a shame to see honest citizens affected by the economy and end up burning their cars.

My honest advice is to really get a grip on your life before you attempt to recover money from insurance companies. Life isn’t supposed to be easy but there’s always going to be solutions to problems if you keep looking.

Autoblog also says you can “re-negotiate” your current plans before deciding to burn your car and end up in jail:

A better solution for cash-strapped owners, say experts, is to attempt to renegotiate payments, sell the car, or trade it in for a less expensive model. While you generally won’t come out ahead, those transactions are legal and they’ll keep you out of the slammer.

I actually know someone who does insurance fraud stuff on consistent basis. Just remember, “what you do will come back to you ten fold whether that’s good or bad.”

The radio shaped like a gear shift

Blackberry saves a Skiers from Falling 700 Feet!

Here’s a rather interesting story where a skier got wedged between two rocks. The blackberry in his pocket made his body just wide enough to fall 700 feet and saved his life.

At first I thought the Blackberry saved the skier by letting him call 911 but I guess there’s more uses with Blackberries than just calling the emergency department.

Very interesting, I am sure someone is already using a Blackberry to put butter on their bread already. (Congrats to David Fitzherbert for making it alive!)

“After 70 feet it narrowed and I became stuck like a cork in a bottle between the walls.

“Fortunately the extra inches of the Blackberry were enough to block the fall.”

David broke his jaw, smashed his teeth, cracked a bone in his chest and nearly tore his nose off.

His mountain guide made a distress call, and a mountain rescue team came to dig him out.
