Going at over 100MPH sorta like flying squirrels, these wingsuit base jumpers are really taking skydiving to another level.

Here’s some really cool direct video manipulations. (Download Mac Demo here)

This could be really fun for my golf swing

So what’s being manipulated, exactly? Both the video content (e.g., the things you see moving in the video) and the “tape head”. When using DimP, the user directly manipulates the video content and indirectly manipulates the tape head. When using the seeker bar, the user directly manipulates the tape head and indirectly manipulates the video content.

Here’s a really lame robot that someone used a cheap hobby robot arm to digg stories.

It could, however, be used for some really useful stuff I think…

Google Media Server bridges the gap between Google and your TV!

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Google, Video, photography by max on the July 1st, 2008 at 9:22 pm

Google Media Server bridges the gap between Google and your TV!

Google has just announced their new Google Media Server, which supposedly bridges the gap between Google and your TV or any UPnP devices such as PS3.

It looks like a great way to organize your media files in your PC, especially if you are displaying them to your TV or simply want to access them from your PS3, XBOX, whatever.

Google Media Server is a Windows application that aims to bridge the gap between Google and your TV. It uses Google Desktop technology such as Desktop gadgets for the administration tool and Google Desktop Search to locate media files. All you need is a PC running Google Desktop and a UPnP-enabled device (e.g. a PlayStation 3). At the touch of a button, you can then:

* Access videos, music, and photos stored on your PC
* View Picasa Web Albums
* Play your favorite YouTube videos

The Next Electric Car Fad - The BuzzBall!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Design, Entertainment, Gadgets, Travel, Video by max on the June 30th, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Imagine yourself in this BuzzBall and going down one of the big hills of San Francisco at 40-60MPH. From the video that we can see the driver doesn’t actually rotate 360 degrees while traveling, proving the Buzzball could substitute your daily commuter to work. However, we highly recommend you get a life insurance before taking on the road with these “balls”.

Once the Buzzball is in motion the pod maintains an upright position until the pilot turns, causing the pod to rotate inside the ball against the direction of travel, which applies a braking force and the pod to lock with the ball. This causes the pod to rotate with the ball until the weight of the pilot and pod overcomes the inertia forces and causes the Buzzball to change direction.

Interactive Scape Multi-Touch Surface makes you Super-Powerful and others Jealous!

If you ever happened to own one of these Interactive Scape multi-touch surface desks, your friends might start calling you more often and asking to come over.  (Now, just make sure to ask them to bring some buds and other potluck plants/dishes.   I tend to prefer the plants more but beer works too.)

As for the multi-touch desk in action, jump!

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Design, Gadgets, News, Video by max on the June 24th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro

Logitech launches QuickCam Vision Pro aimed at Mac consumers.  With 2MP video and microphone, it’s looks pretty good.

Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac Delivers Image-Perfect Detail, Exceptional Video Calling with iChat and Skype

FREMONT, Calif. — June 24, 2008 —  To help you stay close to those who matter most, Logitech (SWX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI), the world’s leading manufacturer of webcams, today unveiled its first Mac®-compatible webcam with premium autofocus technology and Carl Zeiss® optics: the Logitech® QuickCam® Vision Pro webcam for Mac. The new Logitech webcam delivers image-perfect detail and clarity, and exceptional video calling with iChat® and Skype®.

“With this new webcam for Mac computers, we’ve integrated our most advanced video technologies to truly enrich your video-calling experience,” said Gina Clark, general manager and vice president of Logitech’s Internet Communications business unit. “The lens and autofocus, the sensor and the lighting software all contribute to create image-perfect detail and clarity. Whether you’ve used a standalone or an embedded webcam in the past, you’ll be amazed at the difference in quality our new webcam makes.”

To deliver image-perfect detail and clarity, the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam for Mac combines Logitech’s premium autofocus technology with Carl Zeiss optics. The new Logitech webcam uses a voice coil motor for its autofocus system, instead of a stepper motor. Focusing is fast and fluid – crisp even in extreme close-ups only 10 cm from the camera lens. Logitech’s autofocus system compensates for changes in image-edge sharpness and refocuses images in less than three seconds. And through its exclusive collaboration with Carl Zeiss, Logitech ensures that the lens meets the world-renowned Zeiss standards for design and manufacturing to achieve superior sharpness in a compact, lightweight design.

The 2-megapixel sensor helps the Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro webcam for Mac capture video images in high resolution. It is assisted by Logitech’s RightLight™2 Technology, which enables the webcam to adjust intelligently in dim or harshly backlighted situations.
