Here’s a cool proximity warning device (US Patent #6853307) for industrial heavy equipments made with CUBLOC CB220 and GHLCD graphic display from Comfile. If you need to a such device for satisfying OSHA requirements, this might be it.

The company’s primary products are high voltage proximity warning devices and line contact warning devices. Proximity warning devices have been used successfully for decades to prevent heavy equipment from coming into contact with high voltage lines. ASE has developed advanced patented technology to provide the most advanced proximity warning devices in the industry.

“When a vehicle strikes a high voltage line, death most often occurs when personnel come into contact with the energized vehicle while in contact with the ground below the vehicle. ASE has also developed a patented lne contact device to warn operators and other personnel that the heavy equipment has come into contact with a high voltage line based on the measurement of the electric field between the equipment and ground. NIOSH has also successfully tested the effectiveness of a line contact device based on the ASE patented product.”

Stealth Bomber on Google Earth!

Posted in Cool, Earth, Travel, Web by max on the October 20th, 2006 at 4:29 pm

I’ve seen some blogs with hovering cars, but this stealth bomber is the coolest gadget I’ve seen so far on Google Earth…

This is pretty amazing. Germany’s Spiegel Online has found a stealth bomber on Google Maps. It should have been blurred out, because it’s on a secret part of a military base — but Google must have missed it. As of this writing, the bomber is still there, in good ol’ Palmdale, California. Hit the link, and zoom out. You’ll see metropolis of Los Angeles emerge just below it. We stumbled on it via Google Blogoscoped, which translates Spiegel saying that it’s prohibited to get close to military bases, let alone photograph them — at least that’s what you’d assume in times of terror. To be clear, the images are obviously not taken real-time; they were taken up to several years ago. Still, it’s got to be a breach to reveal where such bombers may be sitting.

Yes, DC motors might be better solutions for hovercrafts…definitely!

Here’s another simple DIY hovercraft you can make in about 15 minutes from a foam meat tray, battery, motor, propellor and some glue…

Cool RC Foamy Flying Wings

Posted in Cool, DoItYourself!, Travel by max on the October 16th, 2006 at 11:28 pm

Here’s cool DIY plans that you can make some RC Foamy flying wings!
Please send me some samples to Max! :)

All the 3D maneuvers are mixed up with conventional aerobatics to make a breathtaking routine…. But unlike other types of flying, a specific plane is needed. To fly 3D, you have to have a plane that’s has lots of pitch and yaw control. Elevators taking up 50%-60% of horizontal stabilizer’s surface is a must. They need to be able to travel to 45 deg in either way. The same is true for the Rudder. Ailerons should also be large, but will require less throw than the rudder and elevator.Hangar 9 makes the CAP 232…. For larger planes, it is a great choice for 3D flight. Our little planes do all the maneuvers shown, and just as well as the big planes. Most people practice the tricks with the little guy, and then when it is mastered, feel comfortable moving up to the BIG plane for airshows.
