That’s right, someone decided to make a V8 engine out of Legos.

It’s not gonna run your car anytime soon but still, it’s a fantastic Lego project.

Sony VAIO Wi-Fi Digital Photo Frame will read RSS Feeds!

Posted in A+Featured Gadgets, Consumer, Cool, Design, Digital Frames, Entertainment, Gadgets, Gifts, RSS, Toys, Web, Wifi, Wireless, technology by max on the September 8th, 2008 at 11:16 am

If you happen to be a Sony VAIO laptops lover, you need to check out their new VAIO Wi-Fi Digital Photo Frame that is also capable of reading RSS Feeds with a resolution of 800×480.

Features: 7″ display with 800×480 resolution projecting over 16 million colors, Wi-Fi enabled (802.11b/g), 128MB hard drive, Memory Stick®, Secure Digital™ and Compact Flash slots, projects RSS feeds from the web and built-in MP3 player

What I like most about this Sony WiFi Digital Photo Frame is that it can read online RSS Feeds so you can setup your own RSS Feeds from your photos and websites.  (For how to add RSS Feeds to your digital photo frame, looky here.)

I really think that the next step in digital picture frame resolution is RSS Feeds that will automate the process of uploading any photos.

With WiFi digital photo frames that can read RSS Feeds (I think most Wi-Fi frames do this now), you no longer need any photo storage space, just a good WiFi connection which most homes have these days.

DIY - How to Make your own RC Helicopter!

Although most of us would be better off buying an RC helicopter off the rack at the local hobby store, you can make your own if you want to with this terrific DIY guide on how to make your own RC helicopter.

Flying RC helicopter is really very exhilarating. Their versatility gives a RC pilot a complete access to the three-dimensional space in such a way that no other machines can! I have played RC helicopter for more than one year but still find that I have just learnt a few tricks that it can perform.

There are generally two micro-helicopters ( indoor ) in the RC market. I have already planned to buy one of them as they can fly inside the living room and even take off on ours hand. Unlike those operated by gas, these electric helicopters are very clean and give out no terrible noise at all. In one nightfall, I visited a web site, which is about how to make a hand made RC helicopter. I was totally impressed and started designing my own helicopter. Here is my helicopter:

LED Swing Wing!

Posted in A+Featured Entertainment, Consumer, Cool, Design, Entertainment, Gadgets, Household, LED, Toys, kids by max on the August 27th, 2008 at 1:53 pm

Here’s a lovely LED Swing Wing I would love to one day make one for myself when I get a real house.

Made from plastic with fibre optic lighting inserted. On a dark summer night the swing creates a spectacular light show that lights up a whole garden in the most beautiful way. The swing was originally shown in the “Five playful chairs” exhibition in 2005 and has been a huge success around the globe. Over 30 000 internet sites has written about Sense as well as large newspaper articles in New York Times, Herald Tribune, Taipei Times and Frankfurter Allgemeine.

This new educational kit lets you explore the mechanisms involved in harnessing the alternative energy of wind power. The windmill features loop-wing design that can be rotated by the slightest breeze. You can also run while holding it to generate wind artificially. The kit comes with a rechargeable vehicle that uses power generated by the windmill, running for 1-2 minutes for each 5-10 minute of charge.

ow to DIY Arduino HACK - ArduGame - DIY Arduino Game Console!

DIY Arduino HACK - How to make an ArduGame - DIY Arduino Game Console!

Here’s a really cool Arduino hack where the user has hacked up a game console based on Arduino and peripherals like accelerometer.

The ArduGame packs all of the power into a small handheld unit that allows you to make your own simple games. The OLE display is responsible for much of the power since it can store many of the graphical images be stored on a memory card that it can read directly. The current game is a proof of concept that shows this game platform could be fun and flexible to program.

“This system provides infinite possibilities for programming our own games, in fact, we have developed a small game (which you can download the sources for free) which at present has no definite name! All this is fine, but as we were unable to resist, we have also built a small ADXL 2g accelerometer to play with movement! The ball has accelerated and we can choose how we play from the main menu. Quote points accumulated and we will always have a limited time between each level.”

DIY LED Dragon with Fire Animation!

LED Dragon with Fire Animation!

Check out the LED Dragon, kind of a cool DIY project if you know how to engrave glass.

I have to say that even I was surprised how well the dragon version turned out. Three very simple flames and bit of light and magic can really spice up the engraving. And this was the whole point of this project.

It took only minutes to engrave the flames but I have to admit that it took way longer that I expected to get all the taping done, leds mounted and hooked up. On top of all this, it was pain to keep all the layers clean during the assembly.
