You know in GMail, there’s sometimes annoying emails you get from spammers who don’t care about CAN SPAM Act?

Even if you mark it spam, sometimes they keep making it through your spam filter.

There’s a way to block those e-mails (or send them an automated reply to annoy them back).

First, simply check off the e-mails you don’t want to receive anymore then click on More Actions->Filter messages like these.

Then, simply click on Delete It or perhaps forward it to another e-mail of your liking that will auto-respond.

I get hundreds of e-mails per day from spammy Chinese manufacturers. I never open them because they keep sending e-mails that I never asked for.

GMAIL Tip – How to See Unread Emails in GMail!

Here’s a simple tip for those of you who need to see all the unread e-mails and mark them read. (like old e-mails)

Simply do a search for “label:unread” in your searchbox in Gmail.

Then select all then go to More Actions->Mark as read.

These unread messages might be annoying especially if you have couple hundred of these, it might be hard for you to filter actual new mail. But do this every once in awhile and you won’t have those problems.

Well, Google GMail is finally back up after couple hours of service outage.

Think about how many businesses rely on GMail to run their businesses. (including me)

Now that said, the world ecommerce/commuication now moving again, forward. Yey!

I was actually a little worried myself there for a second, we received an influx of too much traffic while the GMail down blog post was up and GMail was down. It seemed like a LOT of people were searching why Google was down on Twitter and Twitter kept sending a LOT of traffic over here. Well, good thing Zedomax.com didn’t go down either. :p

Remember to back up your GMail though!

GMail Hack – How to BackUp Your GMail!

All things man-made will break, even Google’s own GMail. Now, you don’t need to fuss about it if you had all your GMail data backed up.

Here’s a bunch of great resources on how to back up your GMail so the next time GMail goes down, you will still have access to your e-mail:

If you use MS Outlook and pop your mail from GMail, you are already all good since you have downloaded all your e-mail. (unless you deleted it) I use MS Outlook every once in awhile just to pop my e-mails from GMail. That’s my 1st backup.
Even if you don’t have MS Outlook, you can use any computer’s default e-mail system to setup a simple POP3 e-mail. Just hit send/receive every once in awhile and you will have backup copies. You can also use Firefox Thunderbird, which is completely free. (Instructions on how to setup Thunderbird with GMail here.)
There’s a free software called GMail Backup you can use to backup all your GMail.
For linux users, try referring to this guide on how to backup your GMail.
Of course, you can also “forward” all your e-mails to another public e-mail address so you will always have 2 copies. – Instructions on that here.
There’s even how to back up your GMail using “restricted” Google Groups method.

Well, that’s just a handful of ways you can back up your GMail so the next time there’s GMail outage, you will still be able to keep going.

I think the simplest way is to actually have an EMail client such as MS Outlook or Firefox Thunderbird and pop your e-mails every once in awhile. Of course, make sure you set the e-mail POP settings so they leave GMail e-mails “unread” if you want to keep using GMail web version. (That’s how I do it. I have MS Outlook but I hate using it to actually send mail over my GMail web/mobile.)

Top 20 Things to do When GMail is Down!

It looks like GMail is having some big problems today, bigger than I have ever seen.

Anyways, don’t be too worried, just relax and enjoy life, here’s some fun things to do while GMail is down:

Go to tweet about your GMail being down on Twitter.
Go see how many tweets there are about GMail being down on Twitter.
Blog about GMail being down like I am doing right now.
Pick your nose and wonder when you can use GMail again.
Go smoke a cigarette outside or just go for an hour walk if you don’t smoke.
Go do stuff you don’t need GMail with such as working out, standing upside down on your hands, or even just yell out “GMail DOWN!” out your office window.
Talk to your co-workers about GMail being down.
See if GMail blog has updated status on GMail being down.
Tell your clients that GMail is down and you cannot e-mail them. (also reschedule your appointments)
Find a backup solution so your GMail e-mail can always be accessed even when GMail is down.
Call your mom/dad and tell them GMail is down.
Pick your nose again if you did 1 through 11.
Blog about how to backup your GMail. (which I will do did shortly already)
Scratch your butt and wonder why GMail is down. It’s IMPOSSIBLE!
Go Digg the blog post you wrote about GMail being down.
Keep hitting that “refresh” button to see if GMail is up now.
Jump up and down do some jumping jacks so you get your heart rate up.
Scratch your butt again.
Keep googling “Gmail down” and read the latest articles on why GMail is down.
Repeat steps 16 to 20 in vicious cycle until you can access your GMail.

Gmail Hack – How to Store and Play MP3 Files on Gmail!

Here’s a no-brainer hack I posted on my Zedomax.Net blog that explains how GMail can be used for MP3 file storage and player:

(Of course, we might start seeing some software hackers take advantage over this and actually stream live MP3 Files to their iPhone/iPod Touch, great idea!)

Even better, you could open a separate GMail account just for your MP3s….wow what would happen if Google actually built this further to “sync” with iPod? Crazy…

Although many probably already have noticed now, GMail can be used to store your MP3 Files and play them without separate MP3 player such as WinAmp or Windows Media Player.

I am not sure if this will work on the iPhone but it’s definitely a great idea if you can upload your favorite songs to your own GMail and E-mail then simply access them from any computer in the world.

You will see the option to “Play” when you open your E-mail in GMail and Google will “pop” a free MP3 player.

I believe this also works on many other audio formats.

GMail Hack – How to Access GMail when It’s Down!

Well, Google Operating System blog shows the different modes you can use to access GMail when it’s down.

These are of course methods that would ultimately require that GMail servers are running but there are times when you will need hard copies of your GMail.

To do that, I think the best way is to have a separate domain name (such as Zedomax.com) and use the POP service to store your old e-mails. (in Outlook or any free e-mail client) At least that way, you can have access to your e-mails even when all those methods don’t work.

But my favorite among the list is the iPhone mode, it’s kinda fun to browse in smaller spaces.

Google GMail has added another cool feature that will prevent users from sending unwanted drunk e-mails at the middle of the night. I think it’s a good idea, I admit to sending some e-mails that might have been better kept in my draft box.

When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you’re really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you’re in the right state of mind?
