Sometimes it gets a bit boring having the sort of stuff as everyone else, so apart from having something personally made for you, the only other option is the do it yourself at least you know what you are getting and how well it has been made.

This is a concept that Grzegorz Kozakiewicz has taken on board when he wanted to cover his Sony Vaio laptop, he did not want what everyone else had, he wanted something different and his handy work has certainly produced that with the recycled cardboard paper cover.

Seedbomb gets idea from WWII

During the later stages of WWII, there was an American pilot named Gale Halvorson dropped candy from his plane for the kids of Berlin. One can only image how it must been for those poor kids and this was done in the name of hope.

In a similar way the seed bomb could be used to repopulate baron areas with new plants, these could be trees, flowers and in some cases even crops. The bomb is dropped from a plane and upon impact; the seeds are dispersed over the area. Each seed has been encased in a biodegradable capsule that will not leave any trace.

One of the secrets to good night sleep is buying a good mattress that is good for your back too.

Well, I have been using this Keetsa Pillow Soft mattress (Cal King Size) for about a year or so and I have to say it’s the best bang for your dollar as far as mattresses go.

The best part about my Keetsa mattress is the fact that it’s REALLY comfortable, apart from all the greeness.

The mattress itself is composed of over 70-80% springs, which are all recycled steel, good for the environment.

I’ve recently even bought for my friend as a wedding gift and they are lovin’ it because it’s not an expensive mattress but it feels like one. Everytime my friends come visit me, they are like, “Wow, where’s d’ya get that mattress? It’s SOOOO comfortable!”

Heck, if there was a Keetsa store near where you live, I’d check it out. But do take my advice, this Cal King Pillow Soft I got for just $934 online, came to my apartment in a UPS box.

You can beat that price for a nice Cal King that can fit 2 adults and a baby. Go to any retailers and you might be lucky to find a queen size for that price. (and would still suck)

The Gasifier Experimenters Kit (GEK) offers beginners through experts an easy way build, compare and customize a wide variety of gasifier reactor types and configurations. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or a university researcher, the GEK will get you over the starting hurdles of biomass gasification, and on to the more rewarding work of refining specific architectures, testing fuels, and making power.

The GEK kit is designed in a modular fashion which allows for easy switching between common reactor types and operating regimes. Each “reactor type” is a separate assembly that bolts into a common “gas cowling and ash handling” base. See here for the full list of planned GEK reactors. Within each reactor type, relevant variables are easily adjusted and sub-assemblies are simply replaced via standardized “bolt to” flanges.

With everyone in the industry and consumers going green, Samsung has no choice but to follow in people’s footsteps by introducing an Eco-Friendly cellphone made from corn.

Now, I kinda like this concept of making phones from edibles. Will they make some new phones out of milk too? Even better, maybe they can use barley, the same stuff used for making my favorite beverage.

The E200 features a 1.3 megapixel camera, video messaging capabilities and an MP3 player.

Although the device will be available in Europe next month, it doesn’t yet have a release date in the United States.

EcoJohn – Eco Toilet Incinerates your Poop!

This has to be the coolest eco-frienldy device for taking a dump. It’s an Eco Toilet that works by incinerating your poop to white powder. Even better, the incinerated poop can be used for adding nutrition to your plants.

With the Eco Toilet in the works, we will no longer need long septic pipes to our houses, just one little toilet that does the job for you.

Of course, I have not tested this unit. The only thing I am afraid of is the fact that it’s going to smell somewhat like burnt poop somewhere along the line but perhaps I might be wrong on this.

The toilets, one of several waste disposal products offered by the company, operate pretty much like the units found in homes across America today. But while those toilets use water to carry waste away, the EcoJohn Sr. is equipped with a propane-fueled burner.

After a user does his business, he closes the lid and a large, screw-like auger turns and carries the waste to the burn chamber where the propane burner then bakes urine, feces and paper into ashes.

“With this, if you have a family of four for a year and half, you get about a cup of white ash,” company president Frank Jacobsonsaid. “And because it’s burnt so intensely, you can take it and put it in a flower bed or outside or just dump it in the trash can. It’s completely biodegradable, so there’s not a problem for disposal.”
