Thinking about building yourself one of these cool Vacuum Tube Lamps? I think these are more artistic than anything. Who cares how it works, it “looks” great. I WANT ONE!

The basic circuits are rather similar, but the new project has a number of differences. Most notably it is easier and less costly to build. The rather large output transformers used in the original project have been replaced by ones that are considerably less weighty and less costly. This alone makes for a $40 to $50 savings. A number of circuit refinements have been included as well. One area of particular note is the higher gain of this new tube amp.

Best “Value” Earbuds – Sennheiser CX300 Earbud Review!

Well, you know I am an earbud-addict when it comes to listening to music 24/7. Recently, during my CJU 2009 trip to Santa Barbara, I lost my Sony Walkman MP3 AND my Sony MDR-EX75 earbuds.

I did however, order another set of Sony MDR-EX75 earbuds and also ordered a $14 Sennheiser CX300 earbuds. (I saw that it had about 900 good reviews on Amazon so I had to try it out to compare against the MDR-EX75.

These Sennheiser CX300 earbuds are actually really great for bass-heads out there as it proved to have superior bass over the Sony MDR-EX75 earbuds. Don’t let the price fool you, the $14 Sennheiser CX300 earbuds are probably the best earbuds on the market for the money. If you like more treble than bass (and need detachable lines for sports), go with the Sony.

Of course, don’t forget that the Sony MDR-EX75 comes with detachable lines, a must if you are active in sports and listen to music during running, jogging, or anything that could break your earbud lines.

After [Parker] found an old set of JVC 900 Mhz wireless headphones (and a generic 900MHz transmitter), he cracked open the case to see what he could do with them. Motion Sensing DIY Headphones!

Here’s a cool set of DIY headphones that allow you to control your iPhone volume and whatnot through its motion-sensing circuitry. I find that this is a really awesome headphones for headbanging bloggers like me who are too lazy to use my hands as they are tied up with my mouse most of the day.
