Earthtronics introduces their micro T2 CFL light bulb that’s also the very first RoHS approved bulb in America.
The T2 CFL light bulb is slightly smaller than your regular light bulb.
I like that the company is focusing more on earth than their revenue.
LAS VEGAS, USA (AVING Special Report on ‘2008 NATIONAL HARDWARE SHOW’) — Earthtronics unveiled its micro T2 CFL light bulb at the 2008 National Hardware Show, May 6 ~8, in Las Vegas. It is brighter, smaller in size and meets European RoHS environmental product standards.
Holographic Appearance by Bill Gates in Malaysia!

Bill Gates made a “holographic appearance” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at World Congress on Information Technology 2008.
Perhaps, he’s trying this new method after being pancaked once and Steve Ballmer being egged the other day.
Neverthless, kudos to Gates for trying something new without having to travel.
KUALA LUMPUR: Bill Gates, chairman of software powerhouse Microsoft Corp, made a five-minute virtual appearance at the World Congress on Information Technology 2008 here.
A 4.6m holographic projection of the billionaire enthralled the 400-strong audience at the congress yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The image was shot in high definition and projected onto plastic foil which was stretched out in the centre’s Plenary Hall.
The result was life-like and impressive and the crowd applauded the effort.

Btw, you can find more information about these super-gigantic tesla coils over at Lod.org.
Boy, these things are way cool, maybe there’s more uses for it than simply a show. Perhaps, power my back-to-the-future vehicle, De Lorean. (speaking of which, I heard they were going to sell them again soon…)
Here’s an excerpt from their website:
In 1998, LOD designed, constructed and commissioned the Electrum Project, a privately-owned lightning sculpture in New Zealand. Electrum provided a “real world test-bed” for the computer-based design methods needed to approach a large-scale coil design. Electrum’s spacious top electrode also allowed a unique opportunity to measure in detail the intricate dynamics of the streamer discharges — by enclosing a human observer inside the sphere, armed with test equipment.
In 2003, LOD completed the second Conceptual Design [CD2], using the test data and experience gained from the Electrum Project. The CD2 makes several optimizations to the tower and top electrode geometry, and incorporates recent technological improvements in the primary drive circuitry. In the CD2 each tower is now 122 feet high and features shielded observation areas for experimenters inside each top electrode.

Remember we featured Touch Tetris way back last year? Well, I saw it in person at the Maker Faire 2008 so I had to post another video of how “cool” it is.
You can go here to find out how to make one yourself.
Maker Faire 2008!
Wow, Maker Faire was a lot bigger this year over at San Mateo Fairgrounds near where I used to work.
Anyways, it was a lot of fun watching some cool gizmos, DIYs, and makers but it’s really crowded this year.

Wow, this is great structure of woman!

Phew, there’s a lot of stuff. You can check out my Flickr over here for all the pictures I took today. I have couple videos I might have tomorrow so check back!
4th Busan International Motor Show 2008 This Week!

Pusan International Motor Show 2008 is in town. Where is Pusan? Pusan is the biggest “beach” city in South Korea located almost at the southern edge of Korea. It’s a great place where Korean and Japanese companies can have a tradeshow as it’s the tipping point of South Korea.
Anyways, click below to check out some awesome pictures:

ThoughtFarmer provides awesome Intranet platform!

I ran into this nice gentleman, Chris, a co-founder of ThoughtFarmer.com. They provide IntraNet solutions to your company using easy to use web interfaces where your employees and employers can interact within the company w/o using traditional methods of communication such as e-mail and documents.
It’s sorta like a those Enterprise Wikis but the first thing I noticed about their Intranet platform is the quality graphics and simple design as shown here:

The funny thing that happened during the meeting was not the company itself but how they were marketing using some guerilla tactics. Chris showed me how they made this “fake company” all with employee badges and a welcome letter, sent to about 50 well known bloggers. I guess a lot of bloggers founded very creative and funny so they posted it about it such as ReadWriteWeb.
Anyways, you can check out how they did it all at their blog post over here. Next time you use this type of pyro marketing, you can thank me and Chris for it. They actually even paid $5,500 bucks to a marketing firm so get some free marketing tips over at their blog!
Web2.0 Expo 2008 - How to build a Web 2.0 Interactive Resume using VisualCV!

Well, I ran into this nice lady who explained how VisualCV works at the Web 2.0 Expo.
I think it’s a really good idea that they’ve actually made resume into a Web2.0ish interactive media.
It’s basically a free service that let’s you build resumes for yourself or even companies.
Instead of sending attachments, now you can simply point to your online resume as mine here:
http://www.visualcv.com/zedomax
(I made it in about 5 minutes)
Here’s a screenshot:
The greatest part about this VisualCV is that it comes loaded with widgets and AJAX drag and drop technology, so you can easily build a cool looking resume in just 5 minutes. (provided you already have an offline resume to copy and paste like me)
Anyways, check it out as these guys also even let you embed YouTube videos into your resume, how cool is that? Another great feature is that there’s a PDF converter so your new employers can download the resume as PDF in a snap.
Of course, some of you guys are good enough to create all this from scratch but you do also get good online visibility of your resume on the site itself as VisualCV grows.
