DIY - Simple LCD Control with Ethernet

Posted in Circuits, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Gadgets, Hack, Industrial, Microcontroller, Network, Projects by max on the February 21st, 2007 at 5:53 pm

LCD Control with Ethernet

Here’s a cool project that you can control your LCD with ethernet.

The simple “switch on/off a relay” circuit which was the only function provided by the avr web server until now did not require HTML-forms. I used simply 2 URLs http://baseurl/password/1 for switching on and http://baseurl/password/0 for switching off. This does not work anymore for the display as we want to type a text into a web page which should then be shown on the display. What is needed is a needed is a proper decoding of HTML form data.

HACK - Wifi T-mobile Steal

Posted in Consumer, Educational, Hack, Network, Wireless by max on the February 21st, 2007 at 10:02 am

airsnarf

This articles been around for awhile now but it shows you how easy it is for hackers to “phish” your T-mobile passwords. Just be aware next time you are in the airport!

Wireless hotspots are everywhere. With T-Mobile, Concourse, Wayport, etc., a mobile user can obtain connectivity quickly and easily in a wide variety of public locations. Some of these hotspots are free and some of them require a fee or subscription. Either way, you will continue to see how being in a public Wi-Fi hotspot poses the greatest security risk you will find.

JIT Watch - Just in Time Watch

JIT Watch

Wow, check out this concept watch that will let you keep track of where you are in comparison with where you have to be using the latest technology.

In the rapidly changing world of consumer electronics and portable devices, a trend is occurring amongst artists and designers to embed social problems and concerns into these objects to shift their intended focus and intent. Taking this credo to an extreme with his work into technologically enhanced objects and accessories is German artist/designer Martin Frey. From creating a watch that keeps track of time and positioning data to guide you towards your destination with his “Just in Time Watch” to integrating GPS and motors into the soles of hiking boots with “Cab Boots”, Frey is interested in the connections and clashes between physical realities and digital data displays. Gizmodo recently caught up with Frey to discuss his wide variety of projects and take on the future of interactivity and how designers of technologically enhanced consumer products often expect too much of an investment from their users.

Ethereal - Free Network sniffer tool for embedded TCP/IP applications

This is the best sniffer for embedded TCP/IP applications in my opinion. There a lot of options
such as HTTP filtering, UDP, TCP, DHCP, and you can also use it for capturing packets to break
WEP codes… (not that i recommend it.)

2048bit encryption - REAL secure wifi

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Hack, Network, Wireless by max on the January 27th, 2007 at 11:01 pm

Here’s an interesting video on making your wifi encrypted at 2048 bits! The video itself is kinda crappy (not that I can make a better video), but the information is great. I wonder how long it will take to crack 2048bit WEP…if there is one…

DIY HACK - Internet Controlled Security Robot

Posted in Circuits, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Hack, Industrial, Microcontroller, Motor, Network, Projects by max on the January 22nd, 2007 at 11:47 am

Here’s a cool internet controlled security robot you make yourselves and protect your home or office!

Wow, here’s a cool internet controlled security robot using CUBLOC
CB280
, CuBASE 32M, CLCD420B, and a MAXPORT. Thanks Shelato!

There are two components to the interface. One a Visual basic program that sends and receives commands to the cubloc. Two, the cubloc program that receives the commands, controls the cubloc and turns the outputs on and off.

The fully load version on the test stand. It runs wireless!!!!!!!! However, I’m tethered to the power supplies for the Linksys router and Cubloc power supply. Next weekend we go to full battery power.

The Maxport is sticking out the backend of truck connected to the Linksys router through the blue ethernet cable. 2 Green lights can been seen on the Cubloc. The LCD display is in the passanger window.
