That is what happened to Jarrette Schule in Comal County, he found this M47 Dragon anti tank guided missile launcher discarded on the ground. Now that is what you call a gadget.

NEWS – How Should South Korea Inspect Suspicious North Korean Ships?

The recent news, if you have been keeping up to date, is that North Korea has all of the world’s eyes glued to their actions with nuclear weapons. I personally think it’s ridiculous that the world is giving North Korea so much attention when there’s so much more important things to solve in the world such as inhuman Iranian government.

Here’s an excerpt from the Philipino news I picked up just now:

South Korea’s coast guard said Monday it is drawing up guidelines on how to inspect North Korean ships suspected of carrying banned items — a move expected to enrage Pyongyang, which has warned it would consider such inspections a declaration of war.

The move came as a senior US diplomat met with South Korea’s nuclear envoy about implementing UN sanctions punishing Pyongyang for its latest nuclear test and getting the communist regime to return to talks on its nuclear program.

It’s clear to me that South Korean government should really stay out of this, nothing good can come of it if the South Korean government picks North Korea’s brains which will ultimately end up in meltdown of Seoul, the 2nd largest city in the world with 10 million people living in it. I happened to be such a person who grew up in Seoul most of my early life, I remember basically Seoul was ready to be “bombed” by North Korea on a daily basis and it still is today.

Somehow, I never figured out why our forefathers decided to put the capital city Seoul right next to the DMZ 38th degree parallel…

Anyways, back onto the story, you need to treat North Korea like any other country, they have their own rights to do whatever they want on their land and water. Of course, if they start firing missiles into borders of South Korea, Russia, or China, then the world can get together and do something about it.

Think of it this way, if you had a bully in your neighborhood that always made a mess out of the street but stayed within his property, would you go over to his property and beat him up?

Well, I guess nuclear weapons are way more serious than that but still, the last choice for U.S. and other allied nations is to make that bully mad to jump out of his property and harm others. The best way probably is to error on the “careful” side of dealing with North Korea diplomatically, not accusing them of doing anything.

In my theory, the U.S. politicians have seriously done damage to North Korea’s reputation by saying this:

Campbell said Saturday there should be consequences for North Korea’s provocations, but said the US and its partners would be prepared to offer attractive incentives if Pyongyang returned to the talks and took “serious and irreversible steps” to disarm.

This is like saying come and kiss my ass and US and its partners will not harm North Korea. Why would you ask someone to do something they won’t agree on? North Korea is probably not ready to kiss the world’s ass right now but maybe they are down to “talk” first. Think before you speak!

Here’s a better, cleaner version by a non-politician, me:

US and its partners are prepared to offer attractive incentives if North Korea agrees to communicate and returned to talks with the rest of the world.

That simple, “disarm” could really scare the heck out of the “bully”, why even scare them before you talk to them? Entice the bully to talk to you first, then negotiate the nuclear arms.

Everytime I hear US politicians announcing something on TV, I think, “wow, another stupid decision by the U.S. to piss off North Korea so us Americans have a bigger chance of getting bombed!”

Diplomacy please politicians, think before you speak!

Wow, I have been hearing news about Neda, this 27 year old girl who got shot and killed in Iran for protesting. I think there’s got to be someone who’s going to have to step up and end this merciless bs by the Iranian government.

This isn’t a political war any more, it’s about human rights. You don’t kill a girl for protesting peacefully, no matter what she’s protesting about, especially if she has no weapons to fight back.

I know this is a tech blog but at times like this I wish I can grab a bazooka and blow the face of whoever is the cause behind this.

My take on this whole voting bs? I think the President of Iran who cheated should step down if he’s going to be anywhere near honorable, otherwise he will go down in history as the most notorious killer of Iran. What a peace of dirt, I just wish politicians would actually care for even one person’s life let alone a whole country. I am pretty sure someone will assassinate him soon or later for being the lowest piece of crap in the world. When that day comes, Neda will be happy even if she’s not here with us.

I guess “Neda” means “voice”, perhaps this was meant to be, perhaps people of Iran will keep fighting until they win. Heck, I am not Iranian but at these moments, I do feel for such cause. Rest in peace Neda.

I do heart people like this, they are the ones who change the world, not the ones who do nothing. Even me, I will do even the smallest thing in the world to change the world and fight. Never give up!

My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land – a nagging fear that America’s decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many.

They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America – they will be met. On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted – for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Well, today’s a special day, I can just feel it in the air.

I remember when Barack Obama won the election couple months ago and heard lots of crazy screams around my neighborhood.

Well, same thing happened again, right after Obama’s oath of office.

I have to say, there’s some tough tasks President Obama will have to face but the important thing is that people support him. This has to be the biggest auguration in history of America.

That said, Obama is the right person for the job. Even if he isn’t, as long as there’s a massive support, I think he will do better than the rest.

Obama is the First Black President? Yes and No.

Is Obama the first black President?

The straight answer here is yes and no depending on where you are coming from.

If you are a black person who wants to be proud of Obama as the 1st black President, then yes.

But if you are referring to Obama as a black person and you are from the big media, I think no. We should all note here the fact that Obama is half white and half black.

My point is that Obama should be treated as someone who is capable of running this country regardless of his race. Why do white and black people have to “name” black and white on everything? And why does it matter if Obama is right for the job? And didn’t people vote for his skills, not color?

As an Asian person who can see outside the black and white box, this completely perplexes me, people shouldn’t label people with anything that has racial associations. It will only lead to racial tension and misunderstood associations.

Is Tiger Woods black?

No, Tiger Woods is probably more Thai than actually black. But why do people think Tiger is black?

The answer lies in the media and they are not too sensitive on the black and white thing.

Unless we change the media to clearly identify races (if they are going to label someone), we will always have more prejudice in this country.

Why Black or White?

It doesn’t matter, can we just call Obama the 1st President who is clearly better than McCain and Palin or any other candidates that were running for President?

Heck, they should call Obama Asian, he’s mixed, clearly not fully Black or fully White, so Asian.

Barrack Obama Wins the 2008 U.S. Presidency!

Barrack Obama wins the 2008 U.S. Presidency and I couldn’t be happier.

I am humbled by the American citizens who have voted for Obama while I thought that this could be something near impossible at the beginning of this year. The landslide victory by Barrack Obama also marks the thoughts of many Americans who want change for the better of the country and the world.

Barrack Obama has really broken the race-barrier in America as far as politics are concerned. I think this new President is really going to change the U.S. and the world and once-and-for-all.

Once again, I am surprised by the outcome and really enjoy this day. The day that people could think outside the box, the day that people could vote “outside the box”. Box is America, Americans need to think outside the box, get someone who’s not on the inside, inside.

As far as the 2008 race is concerned, I did also outline that Obama was leading clearly ahead of McCain earlier in the week. I really believe internet had a lot to do with this race. People were able to post videos on YouTube about each candidate, making it easy for people to search for facts, not bs. (Perhaps, I played a part in this race too by providing my unbiased opinions on Black and White American society from the point-of-view of Asian American immigrant.)

Apart from posting videos, it was clear that with internet and Web2.0, people of the world could “influence” the votes.

No matter what happens, I do think President Obama will do a great job. The only thing I fear is that there might be some white supremecy freaks who might try to assasinate Obama, but let’s first celebrate that one of my dreams has came true tonight.

I think U.S. international diplomacy will go a lot better with less wars and less “racial” tensions with Obama in the Presidency seat.

There, that was the greatest moment in American history and I was there to witness it.

As a person who has white, black, asian, gay, and mixed friends, I could not be happier as one of my “friends” became President of United States. This day marks the official opening of civil rights and true American “freedom of speech”. Before, there was no proof but this day does mark the day that Americans as a whole, are not biased, and they all just want freedom for every living human being without discrimination.

Also as a person who grew up in all-white suburban American city, this proves that you can achieve the American dream, which is limitless and I am living it too, regardless of race and religion, just how much and how well blogging can take you.

Thank you to American citizens tonight who support dreams of millions of other Americans, that wars can be stopped, taxes can be lowered, and that my kids can grow up to a non-discriminate country filled with white, black, and asian people, with no importance on that order itself.

Again, Obama is HALF white and HALF black, don’t listen to those stupid TV broadcasters who keep saying “the 1st Black President“. Let’s at least keep this race thing straight. America, you just voted for a white person who happens to has some black blood. (or black person who has some white blood) Thank you. (GOD, will every a typical American TV broadcaster stop being so racist? Maybe we gotta fire some of them.)

Oh yeah, let’s not forget Obama’s WHITE grandmother just passed away, let’s hope her that she had seen everything that has happened tonight in heaven.

Well, my good friend John Erickson tossed together an awesome script for the election returns tonight. The orb starts off dark, and the script periodically checks the election results. As the results come in, the orb will gradually get brighter and brighter blue or red based on who is pulling in the EVs.

I’ve been seeing these weird ProtectMarriage Google ads flooding all of my blogs, really annoying the heck out of me as I’d like to see more “related” ads people would click on, not some biased political campaign ads. (I had to block their ads, it was simply getting way too annoying to my readers, apart from the fact that it’s already highly biased and discriminate against a type of people in SF.)

Well, anyways, I’ve noticed that one of our blogger friends RGS has written about No on Prop 8, I have to highly agree.

I won’t go into details but if you want to learn more about Prop 8 and how it will affect freedom of speech and human rights, you can read more about it on my Adsense Optimization Blog.

Tim O’Reilly Supports Obama!

Tim O’Reilly is probably one of my Web 2.0 heroes who has an extensive history of writing books, creating HOWTO, DIY book publishing company, all while being officially banned from his own family due to cultural differences.

Anyways, Tim O’Reilly is officially supporting Obama due to the technical expertise Obama has over McCain. I have to agree that we need a President 2.0, capable understanding Web 2.0 and other emerging technologies.

Here’s what he had to say on technology and why Obama needs to be President:

Faced with these problems, we need a president who can harness the best and brightest our country has to offer, a president who is conversant with, and comfortable with, the power of technology to assist in solving these problems, a president who is good at listening, studying, and devising solutions based on the best insight available, rather than on narrow ideology. We need a president who can forge consensus, not just among the partisans in our own fractured democracy but around the world. We need a president who can inspire our citizens and our global partners to forgo narrow self interest and embrace the possibilities that we can achieve if we work together to build a better future.

I believe Barack Obama is that president. He is a man of intelligence, but also a man whose character and temperament seem suited to the problems of our age: unflappable, optimistic even in the face of adversity, willing to speak the truth about subjects that have long been taboo (I’m thinking of his speech on race, and his speech on fatherhood) and with unscripted reactions that show his fundamental decency (I’m thinking of his reaction to those who wanted to make a campaign issue of Sarah Palin’s daughter’s unplanned pregnancy.)

Because this is a tech blog, not a political blog, though, I primarily want to address the subject of why members of the technical community should join me in supporting Barack Obama. (The New York Times has made a compelling case based on the broader issues, as has Colin Powell.) I outline four principal reasons:

1. Connected, Transparent Government
2. The Financial Crisis
3. Climate Change
4. Net Neutrality

Tim O’Reilly Supports Obama!

Palin spends $150,000 on Fashion for Herself and Her Family!

Well, although I do believe you have to look your best, I don’t think spending $150,000 on fashion for a political campaign is right. (unless of course, you are paying that with your own money)

Palin has been spending some outrageous $150,000 USD on fashion for herself and her family. I do strongly believe candidate’s spending habits will also reflect on how they spend the national budget.

As such, I just don’t think Palin is capable of pulling this job of running America. I am not being biased here, only stating the facts. (And I won’t even go into how much Obama spends on his clothes.)

Heck, you know what I’d like to see, a candidate who spends only $15,000 on their clothing and donate the rest to the homeless society. $15,000 should still be enough to get a LOT of clothes for Palin and family.

The Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.

According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.

The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.

Well, we live in a society where voting “machines” are used to count votes and that means it’s not reliable at all, especially if some hackers can figure out how to hack them in just 122 lines of code.

Yes, I still believe Bush had some hackers rig the Florida voting machines. I still can’t believe Bush became the President 8 years ago, when he was CLEARLY not “voted” President, he simply declared himself one. (Perhaps that’s why our American economy just went plunk last 8 years or so and I still have to pay out of my pocket at Hospital Emergency rooms.)

Anyways, the voting machines can easily be hacked and I think the government has to actually make an “open system” where after people vote, there would be a very large LED sign in front of the voting booth, showing the actual vote counted in real time.

Do I believe in the American voting system? Hell no, I know that it’s rigged if it can be hacked.

Do we need a new system? Hell yes, we need a system that updates in “real-time”, we’ve been using a faulty, biased, and easily-hackable voting systems for years.

Darn, I am sure hackers already know who’s going to be President, I sure hope that hackers are not on McCain’s side. (Yes, it might now be a matter of which candidate hires “smarter” voting machine hackers, not about actual votes in my opinion any more.)

Okay, I am normally neutral as far as politics are concerned but this is wrong and it’s in America. I don’t want my kids to ever even hear about stuff like this.

As an Asian American who grew up in South Korea, at least I can see outside the “Black and White” world of America. As a person in the middle of the two races and an immigrant who saw racism here and there, I cannot say enough that this must stop.

Even if this political race was about Black and White people, I’d still say that voting for a Black person would actually be better for this country, which has had a long history of white presidents.

Why? Well, as an Asian person who really doesn’t side on White nor Black, (although I have many diverse friends including black,white, and even gay people) I see the future where people won’t give so much attention to “race” if Obama becomes President. As far as “race” is concerned, no one will care anymore since people can now think, “Yes, a President can be White or Black, RACE does not matter in anything politics. Period. You people in the video forget one important thing in life, race doesn’t matter, it’s who wins.

After what seems like series of bad decisions and autographs to important government documents, Bush signs another controversial Anti-piracy law that will, in simple words, let the big Music and Media makers the power to go after criminals and (also) innocent people. I do agree that there’s a lot of piracy of music and movies but I think this might be on the over-the-edge method, benefiting the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. Darn, I can’t wait until Bush steps down, if he didn’t sign any bills, our country might have been better off by now.

Let’s keep the internet and information free for everyone people, I think Hollywood actors/muscians get paid enough already.

The law creates an intellectual property czar who will report directly to the president on how to better protect copyrights both domestically and internationally. The Justice Department had argued that the creation of this position would undermine its authority.

The law also toughens criminal laws against piracy and counterfeiting, although critics have argued that the measure goes too far and risks punishing people who have not infringed.

Well, I just “hoped” that this sign wasn’t actually in America but sadly it is. Never mind who you are voting for, whoever made this sign is world’s most disgusting racist. I don’t see how colored Arabic Obama has anything to do with politics, this is simply plain racist sign that shows how few Americans are still uneducated. If you are going to make a sign, please do not include racist remarks or for anything else for that matter.

Racist = Yes

Free Speech = Yes, only if it’s secretly kept in your garage.

Disgusting = Yes

This is what the creator of the sign says:

Raymond Fine, 74, of West Plains, said the sign is a form of free speech.

My reply, “Yes, and you are a fu(king moron, why don’t you back to elementary school and see how the world is changing? You are still living in the 40s buddy, people like you make our world worse. Please grow up and learn about peace and diversity, not hatred and prejudice.”

As a person who immigrated to America and tolerated many forms of discrimination while growing up and learning English, I cannot say anymore than I’d fight for freedom of the people, signs like this is what causes wars. White, Black, Asian, Arabian, European, Indian, and everyone deserves to be treated equally regardless of color, race, religion, sexual-orientation, hello, this is part of Employeement-law. Heck, I bet the problem is that this guy doesn’t have any Black or Arabic friends.

Well, that’s my 2 cents on this sign, at least I can blog about what is wrong in this country.

Well, I did get a little harsh on Palin the other day, our reader Nicole Price from GreatPricesHere.com left a comment that did get my attention and I’ve had enough of this Political drama between Obama and McCain.

Frankly, I take no sides in this political campaign but McCain is too OLD to be President.

I really like how McCain answer gay marriage question, couldn’t he just say that gay marriage should be allowed since if it’s not, it’s a prejudice against sexual orientation, thus against U.S. Constitution?

Here’s a funny clip from Saturday Night Live where McCain says being old is one of the characteristics a President should have.

Well, I think being old has nothing to do with ANYTHING. Look at Tiger Woods, he beat the crap out of everyone who’s OLD, made a new game out of golf.

Well, I am not taking sides here but McCain is definitely not it, I just don’t want to see another Bush marathon of U.S. economy collapse and $700 billion spent on rich people. Just think about what happened yesterday when AIG decided to use $400,000 on corporate outing when their company is part of that $700 billion that I might be paying for! Here’s the protest video. Automakers get $25 Billion from Bush, God dang it!

Our President Bush, the most miserable failure in history of the United States, decides to sign another bill that will allow automakers to borrow $25 Billion, adding to the national deficit of $700 billion.(or is it $800 billion)

Whatever the case is, this is kind of an outrageous stuff because I would have never voted for this bill to pass. I don’t see how pumping more money into the auto industry will help our economy, maybe create more factory jobs.

While the U.S. banking industry is still waiting for Congress to give it a $700 billion hand, President Bush signed into law last night the spending bill that gives U.S. automakers $25 billion in loans to get their collective act together.

But unlike when a bank deems you worthy of their money, the Big Three won’t be getting any cash for some time. Despite the companys’ CEOs saying repeatedly how they were desperate for help and how automotive life as they know it would end if they didn’t get financial help, there’s at least a 60-day delay until they can cash this check.

This is exactly the reason why our economy is failing and getting worse. Can someone please give George Bush a blowjob tomorrow so we can impeach the day after that? Another miserable failure act from the worst President in history who has his name more associated with the sewer plant in San Francisco than any kind of brains.

Well, maybe McCain didn’t make all his money to buy 7 houses and 13 cars just from being a politician all his life, but it’s true, McCain can hardly remember how many houses he owns. (I don’t blame him, he’s at that age…)

In contrast, Barrack Obama owns 1 Ford Escape Hybrid.

For rich people, McCain might be the right pick but for everyone else and the majority of people, I think Barrack Obama will server us better, not because he’s got only 1 car, because at least he can clearly remember how many homes and cars he has.

I think voting for McCain for President would be like putting an almost-dead guy on the bench, can we get someone who’s not going to die on the job PLEASE from heart attacks?

Okay, that’s my 2 cents on politicians today.

McCain owns a 2004 Cadillac CTS as his daily driver, and it gets less interesting from there. Rounding out the Maverick’s sizable stable is a 2005 VW convertible, a 2001 Honda sedan, a 2007 Ford pickup, a 2008 Wrangler, a 2000 Lincoln, a 2001 GMC SUV, three 2000 NEV Gem electric cars, and a vintage 1960 Willys Jeep.

I was kinda bitter yesterday that Palin let her Yahoo e-mail account be hacked. Well, I am even more bitter now that the Palin’s e-mail hacker responded with how he/she “hacked” Palin’s e-mail account.

Here’s the excerpt:

after the password recovery was reenabled, it took seriously 45 mins on wikipedia and google to find the info, Birthday? 15 seconds on wikipedia, zip code? well she had always been from wasilla, and it only has 2 zip codes (thanks online postal service!)

the second was somewhat harder, the question was “where did you meet your spouse?” did some research, and apparently she had eloped with mister palin after college, if youll look on some of the screenshits that I took and other fellow anon have so graciously put on photobucket you will see the google search for “palin eloped” or some such in one of the tabs.

I found out later though more research that they met at high school, so I did variations of that, high, high school, eventually hit on “Wasilla high” I promptly changed the password to popcorn and took a cold shower…

It seems that her account password was very easy to crack using public information. Well, there goes the Alaskan mayor’s governor’s credibility down the drain.

Well it comes to us no surprise that one of the Presidential nominees McCain does not know how to use a computer. (For god sakes he’s 72 years old! Let’s hope he doesn’t have a heart attack before the elections)

If we are going to have a computer-illiterate McCain as President, we might as well have this 102 year old woman who has her own Facebook.

What I don’t understand is that McCain has all the money in the world but doesn’t know how to use the computer??? Even my girlfriend “was” a computer illiterate until she started browsing the web for her favorite celebrities and whatnot.

I don’t mind that you can’t type but for god sakes, at least get one of those voice recognition software. No wonder all those “you suck” e-mails I sent to McCain never got read. (Darn!)

Okay, enough for political bashing, I guess I am more for Obama at this point, it was always Hillary or Obama for me anyways, no more republicans in the house plz!

The Yankee Stadium security team has recently found sunscreen to be a dangerous lethal weapon. They are banning all sunscreens from entering the Yankee Stadium.

That’s right folks, make sure to put your sunscreen on your skin before entering the stadium. If you happen to forget, just be ready for cancer-causing UV rays to enter straight into your pores for 3-4 hours.

Some people have retaliated by suing the city of New York as this new screening process puts most of their dumb citizens (who forget to put sunscreen on beforehand) under risk of skin cancer.

(Nothing is really true in this paragraph, I made some up…)

I think they should really make sure to hire smarter people next time for Stadium security. Heck, you might as well bann anything liquid at this point, I don’t see how people would bring in C4s packed in sunscreen bottles.

At Yankee Stadium, the security guards confiscating sunscreen. “Five hours in the upper deck with no sunscreen is crazy,” said one upper deck seasons ticket holder. Fans in the bleachers point out in the New York Post that the sun may be a bigger threat than Osama Bin Laden.

How much land is 16 acres? You could probably easily fit about 10 small houses in an acre so 16 acres is about the size of 1,600 160 small houses or 64 749.7028 meter squared for those of you in international countries.

Florida Gulf Coast University, a college opened in 1997 with a focus on the environment, was given $8.5 million by politicians to start a big solar farm of 16 acres on its campus.

The school’s focus is environmental sustainability and it has a special center dedicated to that purpose, but Shepard said using renewable energy on campus had been largely ignored.

“We were just focused on different things,” he said. “We need to practice what we preach and think about reducing our dependency on fossil fuels.”

During the 2008-2009 academic year, FGCU expects to spend more than $3.5 million on energy and uses an average of 1.4 megawatts per day.

The new solar farm, including the panels purchased with private donations, would generate 2 megawatts per day.

“The sun is free so there’s no risk the price will go up,” Fenton said. “The more solar we can do, the better.”
