Greg also mentions TrueCrypt, a free open-source encryption software you can use to secure your USB flash drive.

In short; USB copy protection secures a file or set of files so they cannot be copied – thus copy protection.  USB encryption scrambles the source files so they cannot be read unless you decrypt them.  Take a moment and think about this…there is a BIG difference.

One more note, you can use free services like no-ip.com, which allows you to maintain a static domain name for your dynamic IP address.  This will work well if you are on regular phone DSL as they tend to change IPs often.

My long-time blogger friend Mike from Bloggin-Ads.com (he had to sell the site because of money problems) has launched a new flash game site called PinkArcade.com.  It’s doing pretty good right now but he needs my help and your help.

Well, basically it’s bunch of flash games you can play for free so I don’t see how you can lose by bookmarking this site.

Here’s a cool PSP Hack that shows you how to turn your PSP into a second monitor for your Windows XP-equipped PC.

Installation

  • Windows application, drivers, etc.
  • Download the installer below and execute it.
  • When it comes to the display driver installation, Windows will warn you that the driver is unsigned, let the setup program install it anyway.
  • After setup has finished, open your display settings and enable the new monitor then move it to the position you like.
  • Connect your PSP and copy the files from the “psp” folder in the installation directory to the memory stick.

Now, this is a really fun thing to do as your finished artwork stays on the site and you can also download it.

If you are on a guest computer and without Photoshop, this could easily be a simply tool for writing stuff over website screenshots, of course all in great gravy graffiti spray cans w/o cops busting you.  (There’s also some good rap music from Minneapolis group Atmosphere while you tag Google…)

Here’s a site that lets you crank out some graffiti any web site.  I was one of the developers on the project, so I’m trying to spread it around to all my blogger friends.  This was a promotion for the Minneapolis group Atmosphere, so you can tag the web while listening to some free tunes from their latest album.

I recently read an article on lifehacker that explained how to shut down windows with a text message.

Although I think this is a really cool idea, I don’t own microsoft outlook and I wanted to figure out a more portable way to go about setting up this project on my computer.

With an add-on and a few tweaks, it is possible configure this, with a portable copy of Mozilla Thunderbird.
This should take < 10 minutes to set up and configure.

Well, I tried out SpringNote, here’s a screenshot:

It’s very simple to use, just like a real notebook except you have unlimited number of pages plus you get bunch of already-made templates like Bookshelf, Monthly Plan, Recipe, and etc…etc…

What I found most interesting was that it is a “wiki” site but you don’t need to know any wiki markup language and start editing your online notes right away. You also have the option to share your notes or keep them private.

As far as technology goes, I love the fact that SpringNote has incorporated a LOT of AJAX. (probably mostly AJAX)

I might start using it more real soon. The only downside I saw was that SpringNote’s servers are hosted in Korea. Although the site does fairly fast, I measured, 168ms ping times from my PC in San Francisco.

FYI, Zedomax.com get 41ms ping times, 4 times faster as servers are hosted in San Diego, California.

Although they could keep running servers from Korea, I think they can grab much larger audience in the U.S. by simply serving their pages from servers in the U.S. (Besides, it’s probably much cheaper to host it here.)

Other than that, I find SpringNote as the next generation online note web app. I will have to dump my MS Outlook all together and start using SpringNotes, way simpler and easier for mass collaboration.
