$999 I Am Rich iPhone 3G App is Junk!

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Here’s the video review of the $999.99 I Am Rich application for iPhone 3G.  Apparently, about 10 people have bought this bogus Apple app and it’s no longer available because it does suck so much.  (Doesn’t really qualify as a real app really)

QingBar MP101 Mini Projector iPhone & iPod Touch Dock!

Posted in A+Featured Gadgets, Consumer, Cool, Design, Gadgets, iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod, iPod Touch by max on the August 8th, 2008 at 8:04 pm

QingBar MP101 Mini Projector iPhone & iPod Touch Dock!

Here’s a cool projector for your iPhone and iPod Touch devices.  This projector will project between 15 to 27 inches of your iPhone/iPod Touch display onto a wall.

While the 640×480 image resolution is understandable, the ANSI brightness rating is a less-than-stellar 10-15 lumens, and you’re looking at a contrast ratio of just 200:1. So while it’s able to project an image that’s roughly 15 to 27 inches in size, don’t expect a similar visual experience as you get from your local digitally-equipped movie theater. The dock also features a mini AV jack allowing you to connect other devices as well as a set of 2W speakers for stereo sound. Unfortunately I have no idea if this thing is currently available, when it might be available, or what it will cost.

iPhone HACK - 12 iPhone Tricks you need to know!

Here’s a cool blog post I found today that shows you 12 shortcuts for using the iPhone/iPod Touch.  Basically, they are mostly Safari shortcuts that you might not have known about.

Here’s one for example that will save you time scrolling back up to the top:

In any application, Safari included, you can automatically scroll to the top of the page by tapping on the “top bar”, which has the time, service bars, and battery. In Safari, this not only brings you to the top of the page, but also brings up the URL bar.

Finally, a solar-powered case is available for the Apple iPhone 3G.  This case does a real good job with leather outfits too.

With the Apple iPhone 3G Solar Charging Case you can charge your Apple iPhone 3G when on the move. Also your Apple iPhone 3G will be protected from getting scrathed or damaged. The Case includes a mini USB to USB cable so that you can charge other USB devices from the case. The case comes with a large high capacity 1500mAh battery, allowing you to charge from a solar source and store the power for later use.

Crack is Whack - iPhone 3G Cracks Everywhere!

Posted in Apple, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, News, iPhone, iPhone 3G by max on the July 30th, 2008 at 6:17 pm

iPhone 3G Cracks - Who cares, I told you so!

The news is that iPhone 3G is causing a quite a stir with its “crack”.  Well, it’s always a great idea to have never bought one in the first place.  Wait until the “crack” is gone.

My honest recommendation is to wait for the iPhone 4G, where speeds will actually match the dollar amount you pay out from your pocket.  Or maybe this crack isn’t that common unless you drop it from the roof.

“Crack is whack!” Whitney Houston said.

How to Turn your iPhone into a Dyno with Dynolicious!

Posted in A+Featured Auto, Apple, Auto, Cars, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, cell phones, iPhone, iPhone 3G by max on the July 30th, 2008 at 1:02 pm

How to Turn your iPhone into a Dyno with Dynolicious!

Here’s a cool new iPhone app called Dynolicious that will turn your iPhone into a real Dyno using iPhone’s already-capable accelerometer.

This is definitely going to beat buying a stand-along Dyno or making an accelerometer yourself.

Dynolicious is the first automotive performance meter available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Dynolicious uses the hardware built-in to your iPhone to measure the performance characteristics of your vehicle. No external wires or equipment is necessary, simply slip the iPhone into a cradle or cupholder and go!

Some of the performance metrics Dynolicious can measure:

  • 0-60 Acceleration
  • 1/4 Mile Elapsed Time
  • Lateral G’s
  • Horsepower

Unlike other accelerometer-based performance meters, Dynolicious uses the advanced data-handling and display capabilities of the iPhone to make the most of your performance testing. Dynolicious maintains a history of test runs, showing you averages and trends in your results. Dynolicious also allows you to enter modifications performed to your vehicle, and will instantly show before-and-after results to easily identify gains or losses.

DIY - How to Make your own iPhone Charger!

DIY - How to Make your own iPhone Charger!

You could probably take any cellphone adaptor and convert it into an iPhone charger pretty easy but here’s a cool DIY showing you how to make your own iPhone charger.

All you need are the 4 resistors stated above. I have modified some values of the resistors because of some miscalculation. Connect them as shown and provide the circuit with a regulated 5v supply. Get a female USB plug and connect it as shown to the circuit. Make sure the positive and negative terminals are connected correctly. The D+ and D- pins have low currents so connecting them wrongly may not blow up your iPhone.
