We are all great fans of the Segway especially when the President has a go on one, but have you ever considered what came before the Segway?

It seems that the during the steampunk era the Legway may have preceded the hi tech Segway and was made in the style that only steampunkers could think up.

Steampunk is one of those things that you love or hate, but even if you hate this stuff, you simply have to admire the craftsmanship that has gone into producing any piece of work, but this USB flash drive is an exceptional piece of work and look every inch the steampunk.

So I suppose that you are wondering just how much this is going to cost you? Well the simple answer is nothing, because this cannot be bought for at any price, this is because you need you to build it yourself. Oh yes have you got the time and patience to build one of these.

These lamps are something completely special; this is a great look some people do not like steampunk, but when it is done right it looks great as these lamps do. They are hand made by designer Frank Buchwald and he will make one to order if you like.

Each one of these items has taken anything from one to two months to make, depending on the size and the complexity of the design, so although there are no prices available we can only assume that any one of these lamps is going to be fairly expensive.

The will come a time when steampunk is just so out of fashion and the next era will be coming into fashion. No doubt, there will be some debate as what era follows steampunk, some designers think that they may have already found it and this computer case is just an example.

This is Victoriana, could this really be the successor to Steampunk or is this just going to be a flash in the pan. We shall have to wait and see, but in the mean if you are interested in making this computer yourself the instructions can be found here.

Some steampunk items are not up to much as they often have not had much thought put into them and the materials used are not quite right. However this steampunk flash drive is a brilliant piece of work and looks like it could well be some sort of old time technology.

The work and the materials that have gone into this is top rate, with every single tiny cog and wheel fitted into the right place and finished off to a high standard. However, this is steampunk and although this is a 16 Gb flash drive the price tag of $165 is slightly on the expensive side.

We love steam punk stuff, some conversions are great, while some other are not so brilliant. This is because sometimes the steam punk thing is overdone and then it does not look so good. However, this steam punk design is nice and stylish, so do you know what it is yet?

This is a PC and it is so cool, this could go to the Victorian era and would not look out of place, unless someone looked inside of course.

Steam punk is brilliant concept; this means that the most ultimate car created by Camaro has been steampunked into a fantastic looking car that has the modern lines of the car that can be bought in the showroom, but at the time has been given the steam punk effect.

A lot of people don’t this, because it make modern machinery look old and tired, but this looks cool and the detail of these drawings is extraordinary simply because it uses brass, cogs and gears.

Sometime when someone decides to steampunk something, it comes out OK, but this USB flash drive has come out really great and looks as you would expect a steampunked gadget to look like. The body has been made from copper and the maker has finished it off with gears.

The 2 Gb flash drive is right there with many of the cool looking steampunk ideas, but the only worry is that if too much handling is going to mark the copper and take its toll on the gears etc.

There isn’t hardly anything around these day that has not been steampunked in one way or another, so it’s not the actual steampunking that is a surprise it is the quality of the work and the idea behind it that make these so interesting.

This keyboard has old type writer keys, in fact that do like the keys used in the enigma machine. However, version looks as if it has been lying around for years; the wood has the old look to it where you could almost imagine your fingers pushing through it. If you like, that sort of thing is very well made, but maybe not too practical though.

For any fan of steampunk equipment, this keyboard the Datamancer Aviator is something special that really looks as if it could belong in a different world, rather than here and now.

Of course, I think the keyboard has more of an enigma look to it; those keys certainly have a touch of the 1930’s and 1940’s to them. However, things like this provoke all different sorts of opinions, which is great. However one thing that is not great is the price $1,200.

DIY - How to Make Steampunk Gold and Silver Waterproof Flashlight!

Here’s a really cool DIY on how to make your own Steampunk Gold and Silver Waterproof flashlight. Of course, this will complement your pool very well in the dark.

For this project, you need:
@ Gold, Chrome (silver), copper, and gold (brass) paint, clear coat/paint for finishing
@ One large 6v flashlight (mine is also waterproof)
@ Paper fasteners, Sharpie/permanent marker, hole punch, ruler, scissors
@ Hotglue, epoxy
@ Assorted gears, Small tube, Nut that fits on the tube, Three-way section of pipe/plastic that fits in tube, Screw that fits in three-way, copper wire, small spring
@ Small container

These DIY Steampunk Tennis Rackets do look more like ping pong rackets, don’t they?

Regardless, you can learn how to make one here.

The ball is made from a couple of carrier bags, so all in all this is a very nice little project that doesn’t require much in the way of special materials or equipment. Like with just about all my projects, a glue gun is very handy to make the project go quickly, but you can use white woodwork glue (Elmers or PVA) if you want to and you have the time and the patience to sit holding each bit while it dries.

Aww God! It’s steampunk cufflinks I will never wear!

Brand new style! I am so pleased with how these turned out. Vintage lucite magnifying cabochons were set over old letters and genuine brass watch gears, and then sealed on the back with lacquer. Then everything was placed into gold framed cuffinks and the final effect is really stunning. Everything shifts and changes as you turn them back and forth. Don’t wear them to any important meetings – no one will be able to concentrate on what the boss is saying because all eyes will be on YOU!

Here’s a really cool steel watch ring you can wear. I am not sure if the watch itself is just for looks or it works but it’s a really cool watch ring indeed.

17 Jewels Antique Steel Watch Part with TONS of Detail and natural rubies Adjustable Ring

It has an antique steel watch part showing the detailed inner parts of the watch and all of those red stones are natural RUBIES with an oval shape. It is approx. 3/4 inch across.

The ring is an adjustable one, that starts at size 6 and can increase from there. I am a size 5 3/4 ring finger and it fits nicely on me before extending out.

This is the Vulcania, one of only eleven made, they are so rare that they do not even publish the price.

Telling the time is as normal with this watches pretty difficult but I suppose it is one of those things that you get used to, and once mastered it would probably become second nature, however this watch reminds me of an old gothic type movie for some reason.

I like steam punk stuff, but this is not one of the better ones, but the good thing about it, is the fact that the mp3 unit was actually found on the ground outside a bus station, which means if the designer had not recycled it into this it would have then been added to the land fill.

It is hard to describe something like what Khan wore on his wrist in the second Star Trek movie, but for just an mp3 player isn’t this going a little over the top or maybe not, most of the parts have been recycled too so at least they did not even end in the trash.

But on a more serious not, these are actually covers, these give an inside look into what an old and ancient iPod would have looked like, but the music may have been a slight probe, back then!
