I remember when WoW first came out, it was cool but took way long to play so I gave up early on it. Well, honestly, I rather hit golf balls than play video games.

(But yes, get me started and I will probably wind up on the top of gamers list and also have to go to Gamerholics Anonymous)

“We bought extremely cheap manual treadmills off of Amazon and decided to sense their speed with a mouse rather than trying to hook into the treadmill’s output with some sort of analog interface. I wrote a quick script in GlovePIE to calculate the maximum speed my mouse could track. It’s a nice MX Revolution, but I could only get it to track a little over 4mph. If we were going to run at 12mph on the treadmill, a mouse wouldn’t be able to keep up. We decided to use a bicycle tire pushed against the treadmill to reduce the speed the mouse would have to track. Eli used a 26″ tire and tried to get the sensor about 1.8 inches from the axle so we could make sure to get the full range of speeds. I wrote another script in GlovePIE to convert the mouse speed to “w” pulses. So the faster we ran on the treadmill, the faster and longer the “w” would be pressed.”

Now, you can drive on GoogleMaps or fly on GoogleEarth.
It’s really fun, I think there’s a potential for dozens of games and money to made off these types of apps.

The first, taking advantage of Google Maps’ new ability to work with Flash applications, lets you drive a car, bus, or truck around Google Maps. It won’t bat an eye if you drive through a building or into the ocean, but Katsuomi Kobayashi, the programmer from Osaka, Japan, who wrote it, was happy to note that the software can display images at 40 frames per second vs. 20 at best for JavaScript. And it uses less CPU power, too.

CRSpace, a online game company in Korea, has just launched their beta version of the new soccer game, Kick Off.

You can try it here, it’s kinda slow because the servers are hosted in Korea but it looks like another great online soccer game that will eventually kick off the socks off most teenagers.

The Kick Off stands for a soccer game, namely, ‘Street Soccer’ which anyone can easily play, and which has been reinterpreted and restructured from existing soccer games by offering improved features. Users now can enjoy a realistic action, cartoon rendering typed graphics environment with a simplified operating system, etc. with the Kick Off.

CRSpace has applied an RPG feature in anticipation of growing Kick Off. User can choose a character from different positions, i.e. Forward, Mid fielder, Deep fielder, etc., as Soccer is one of the sports required organization and develop unique skills and abilities of the character at different levels.

After it is commercialized, there is a plan to introduce a league system. A ‘league system’ will be operated under a separate channel, in which users can play through ‘automatic team matching’, that is, a winning team plays with another winning team, whereas a losing team plays with another losing team, so as to enjoy more interesting features within the game by matching teams with similar talents to play against each other.

Game&Game World Championship 2007 was held in LA. Looks like this dude got lots of love from some nice lookin’ girls.

Regardless of hot women in games, the finals will be held at COEX center in Seoul, Korea. I wish I was there… :p

At U.S. final selection, more than 60,000 players participated from preliminary match of ‘Shot online (Sports)’, ‘War rock (Action)’, ‘Silkroad online (MMORPG)’ and US regional final event held successfully with 17 players who advanced from preliminary match and more than 200 supporters from all over the US.

This regional event was held successfully at the ‘Internet PC Café’ near LA area, and it began with press conference to help local presses understanding, and participants had great time through Korean online games with special events like professional DJ performances, and participants side shows.

Last August, starting with the GNGWC European Finals, Korea (Yongin, 9.29-30), Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, 10.13), the United States (Los Angeles, 10.20), Japan (Tokyo, 11.17) the series will be held, each chosen gamers through regional finals will be join the Grand final on December 1 during the SoftEXPO & DCF 2007 Seoul COEX exhibition.

Okay, I can’t figure out why online videos like Youtube, Metacafe, Blip.TV, et cetra are called UCC. I heard it once but forgot and cannot Google it. If anyone knows, please let me know.

Anyways, this ez-UCC will basically allow you to replay your online games without having to install a 300MB installation file.

Basically, they are throwing Youtube flash video strategy to online games. (This might speed up some 3D games using the flash video technology…)

I am just glad I live in a world where I can StumbleUpon some cool flash games sites such as the Hoverbot and Zelda. I mean, who would’ve thought that we’d be playing NES games online? Emulators are understandable…but as flash? That’s way too cool…

This will definitely change the gaming world as we know it since it will allow basically ANY game to be recorded in history, crawled by the search engines, and who know what it can be used for? (You could even use it to make animation movies.)

The world’s first MMO e-sports global league (Game and Game World Champion 2007) finished its European final rounds in the Game Convention held in Leipzig on August 23th. Couples, friends and all other mmo lovers got together and showed their best practice for the final eleven who will make it to the grand final rounds in Korea on December 1st. It is now heading for the American match in September.

Looks like you can win $5000 for first place at the Game and Game World Championships 2007. Just don’t end up lookin’ like this guy. * New Crimson Skies game to be announced
* Bungie working on new title/series not related to the Halo/Marathon Universe
* Epic Games to show Gears of War 2 Trailer
* Microsoft has bought the Star Wars Battlefront 3 rights. Trailer/Demo to be shown
* Rare to show off Banjo Kazooie 3 (Banjo-Theerie?)
* Rare to announce 2 new games
* Rare to announce Kameo 2
* Lionhead Studios show more of Fable 2
* Microsoft to fund a new game based on Jason Bourne. It’ll be based on the books and not the film with Matt Damon
* Team Ninja to show off Ninja Gaiden 2. Labeled 360 Exclusive
* Apparently there’s news of a MGS Game for the 360. May or may not be the 4th Installment
* Dead Rising 2 to be shown. May not be ready

We will have to wait until July 11th to 13th 2007 to see if the rumors all work out, but this is interesting to hear thing like this.

For years we have had the “QWERTY” keyboard layout forced onto us, and to be honest if it did change I would be totally lost!

Video game theme songs in Classic!

I remember hearing my mom play classic and opera all the time in the house when I was growing up.
Because of that, I really like to stick with trance classic or pop classic if I am listening to Classic at all these days.
Here’s a symphony that plays video game theme songs, something that I can associate to. Now I can actually listen to Classical music.
Speaking of symphonies and music, my dad wants to create a family band, he’s such a fanatic about drums and he’s got a whole professional set of drums. I did use to play the alto sax and enjoy blues so we will see if we can get our band together soon…
