PC with Lego Case!

Wow, who would’ve thought you could make a Lego PC?

Most things worked out amazingly well, like the ATX power switches fitting perfectly snug in the space of a 1×1 brick, and the LEDs fitting perfectly in a 1×1 brick with hole. I hot glued a 1×1 brick to the power and reset switches to act as buttons. I also put a dab of hot glue on each corner of the ATX I/O plate, which was just a little too small to fit snugly.

I also realized that I underestimated the cohesive strength of Lego bricks. When I first put the top on, I couldn’t get it off! I had to add a nearly complete border of flat plates from my spare parts to get it to detach easily.

Diesel Porsche Cayenne in 2010!

Diesel Porsche Cayenne in 2010?

With the latest oil crisis and prices of everything increasing (and not stopping either), car manufacturers are forced to be more creative.

The good news is that Porsche Cayenne might be coming with a hybrid engine by 2010, all with a diesel engine while horsepower and torque remain the same.

I think I’d be looking really forward to a vegetable oil Porsche Cayenne. (Or at least they will have DIY kits for people who want to convert it)

Various news outlets have speculated that Porsche’s first-ever diesel engine would be installed in the Cayenne SUV for 2009, and now Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking has confirmed it.

D-Link “Green” Routers use 40% Less Power!

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Educational, Gadgets, News by max on the August 9th, 2008 at 11:27 am

Well, I am not about get another router as my current Linksys WRT54GS has been hacked with DD-WRT firmware and it allows for power control already but D-Link is coming out with new green routers that use 40% less power.

I have never been a fan of D-Link products because they usually fail or simply suck. (perhaps because its super cheap)

Maybe this “green” router will prove us different but I am still skeptical whether D-Link can produce the goods.

The DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit router and the even smarter DIR-855 dual channel router (above) are the lucky recipients of Green Technology which will arrive via an impending firmware update and the consequences are dramatic. D-Link quotes the DIR-655 as benefiting from up to a 32 per cent power saving with the DIR-855 even more impressive at up to 41 per cent.

$21,000 Wheel Speakers!

Posted in A+Featured Gadgets, Consumer, Cool, Design, Entertainment, Gadgets, Speakers by max on the August 9th, 2008 at 10:26 am

Yes, this $21,000 wheel-like speakers will blow you off as I would never pay that much for speakers.

Unless they mass-produce this and bring the price down around $210 not $21K, it will remain in the hands of uber-rich snobs who rather throw away money on gadgets like this.

Designed by Ron Arad and Frances Pellisari for Austria’s Viteo, the Freewheeler produces high quality stereo sound indoors or out. The speaker measures in at about 22.8″ tall x 9.8″ wide, making it just about the same diameter as the tires on a Mazda MX-5 Miata (and about 2x as thick).

New Sub Zero Refrigerator Filters Bacteria and more!

New Sub Zero Refrigerator Filters Bacteria and more!

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Check out the new Sub Zero refrigerator which is capable of self-filtering and self-cleaning.

It features a NASA designed filtration system that replenishes the air every 20 minutes while eliminating bacteria, odors, and microscopic contaminants. That means food will stay fresher for a longer period of time (and your fridge won’t smell like an open sewer). The Built-In Fridge series is slated for a fall release in an array of styles, but no pricing details have been announced.

QingBar MP101 Mini Projector iPhone & iPod Touch Dock!

Posted in A+Featured Gadgets, Consumer, Cool, Design, Gadgets, iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod, iPod Touch by max on the August 8th, 2008 at 8:04 pm

QingBar MP101 Mini Projector iPhone & iPod Touch Dock!

Here’s a cool projector for your iPhone and iPod Touch devices.  This projector will project between 15 to 27 inches of your iPhone/iPod Touch display onto a wall.

While the 640×480 image resolution is understandable, the ANSI brightness rating is a less-than-stellar 10-15 lumens, and you’re looking at a contrast ratio of just 200:1. So while it’s able to project an image that’s roughly 15 to 27 inches in size, don’t expect a similar visual experience as you get from your local digitally-equipped movie theater. The dock also features a mini AV jack allowing you to connect other devices as well as a set of 2W speakers for stereo sound. Unfortunately I have no idea if this thing is currently available, when it might be available, or what it will cost.
