BMW Introduces Sportsbike S 1000 RR!

Posted in A+Featured Auto, Auto, Cars, Consumer, Cool, Design, Entertainment, Gadgets, bikes by max on the October 12th, 2008 at 12:24 pm

When I think of BMW bikes, honestly they look like old man’s bike, but BMW has introduced a new sportsbike S 1000 RR, that reminds me more of a Yamaha or Suzuki.

Well, if this thing goes to market, I may change my mind on Beemer bikes, seriously consider getting one now.

BMW took the wraps off its upcoming S 1000 RR World Superbike contender as the Motorrad division showed the new bike in its official race colors at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. Taking a good look at the photos, we can see that the bike is indeed very compact. Look through the numerous cutouts and vents in the fairing and you’ll see how neat and tidy the new literbike is.

Solar Powered Fridge on a Camel!

Posted in A+Featured Earth, Animals, Consumer, Cool, Design, Earth, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Industrial, Medical, News, Solar by max on the October 10th, 2008 at 11:59 pm

Here’s a really neat idea, a solar powered fridge for camels so you can keep all your drinks while traveling with the Camel. This was actually primarily for transporting vaccines in the hot desert areas but heck, I’d use it to cool my beer too.

In transit, the lightweight, foldable solar panel powers the camel-pack refrigeration system. Once the camel convoy arrives at the remote health clinic site, the panel can be used in combination with larger solar panels to provide power for the health clinic. A foot-powered system provides backup and provides light in the clinic during extended operational hours when solar power is not available.

Here’s another cool DIY on how to make a motion-activated Halloween spider that will creep down your doorsteps to your Halloween candy-munching visitors.

I wanted to create a motion-activated spider to put on my door for Halloween. It drops down when visitors approach the entryway, activates a spot light to draw their attention to the spider, gives them a scare, then automatically retracts and resets itself, waiting to prey upon its next victim.

Halloween DIY - How to Make Halloween Bloodbath Fountain!

Yey, here’s another really gory halloween bloodbath fountain you can make for Halloween.

I haven’t ever participated in an Instructables contest so I thought I’d make something for this one instead of just stalking other people’s projects. You can make this without breaking the bank, and the construction is pretty straight forward so anybody can make it.

Photo Hack - How to Batch-Crop Photos!

Posted in A+Featured Hacks, Consumer, Cool, Digital Cameras, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, HOWTO, Hack, photography by max on the October 10th, 2008 at 3:56 pm

Here’s a cool free Windows program called JPEGCrops that will let you batch-crop your photos while maintaining the aspect ratio.  This sure beats editing each photo one by one with Photoshop.

JPEGCrops is a Windows program, created for preparation of a batch of images for printing. It provides lossless cropping with fixed aspects using jpegtran.

The program is freeware for private use and is localized to danish, english, finnish, german, polish, portuguese, galician and japanese. Partly localized to czech, dutch, french, hungarian and italian.

Halloween DIY - How to Make Spooky Glowing Eyes!

Here’s another really “spooky” Halloween DIY that shows you how to make glowing eyes that will look scary at night.

Halloween Eyes is the first project using my LMDriver platform (which I’ve been working on, on and off, for about 4 years (real life can be very inconvenient)). The concept is simple; a pair of TERRIFYING disembodied eyes rendered on a 4 5×7 dot matrix displays which look about and blink every so often. Even though I was going for “terrifying”, the most common reaction was “cute”. Yeah, cute like a GHOST.
