Gasohol Offered in Vietnam and I am Jealous!

Posted in A+Featured Earth, Consumer, Cool, Earth, Educational, Energy, Gadgets by max on the September 19th, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Gasohol, a mix of gas and ethanol, is being offered to the public in Vietnam.  Ethanol added to gas can be effective and proven safe for most gas vehicles without any modifications.

Of course, you can always make your own ethanol using some yeast, water, and sugar.

When will we get Gasohol in America?  Probably never, gasoline companies make way too much more selling regular gas to us.

The timing could not have been better as far as providing alternative solutions to the oil requirements. We all know for a fact that fuel prices are dipping ($91 and falling the last I heard) but this does not mean that the search for alternative fuel should be stopped. In fact, the more alternative fuel that is available then the better it is for the market. For Vietnam, combining Ethanol and Petrol seems to be working for them as this is being distributed named Gasohol E5 by Hanoi.

Cocktail Shaker with Studded Diamonds!

Posted in A+Featured Entertainment, Consumer, Cool, Design, Drinks, Entertainment, Food, Gadgets by max on the September 19th, 2008 at 11:00 am

Here’s a really cool cocktail shaker with studded diamonds.  Stand close to the bartender and you might just be able to score when diamonds fall out during the shakes.  Of course, these have to be real diamonds as the shakers do cost an arm and a leg at $50,000 sticker price.

Touted to be the most expensive cocktail shaker in the world, this one is shaped out of pure silver and 18 carat gold and caked with 480 sparkling diamonds. All set to be unveiled at the Bar Convent Berlin 2008, this bejeweled bar utensil comes packed in an exclusive leathered case. Wonder if my favorite bartender, Tom Cruise, would care to grab this ornamented cocktail shaker for a sequel to Cocktails!

I created a new word today - Windows Morons…

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, News, Operating System by max on the September 19th, 2008 at 10:40 am

Here’s some guy who’s holding “I’m a PC” I guess.

It’s a good thing I don’t like Microsoft’s Vista marketing nor Apple’s deceptive adveristing otherwise, I’d be either Apple-butt-kisser or Windows-whore.

I have actually decided that neither Microsoft and Apple is my kind of company, my next computer will definitely have Ubuntu for sure.

I am sorry to say to all you Windows-lovers and Apple-lovers but the truth has to be told and big companies are really just taking you for a “ride”.

Of course, there are good points too and don’t get me wrong, I just want to be unbiased as much as possible so I can make fun of them and hopefully that will make them a better company in the long run.

Who knows, maybe Vista will turn out to be a good operating system (in 10 years) and iPhone 4G will be on Sprint’s new mobile WiMAX network.

Apple should be Sued for Deceptive iPhone 3G Advertising!

As much as I can appreciate the Safari mobile browser on the iPhone, I still hate the fact that Apple refuses to make “real” ads without trying to cover up the slowness of the iPhone.

Well, as I told you about how iPhone is the biggest marketing scam ever, it seems like people are slowly starting to realize what I’ve predicted all along.

If above video isn’t proof of deceptive advertising than you must be either stupid or you’ve been whitewashed by Apple’s ads.  No matter what the case, you need to face the facts and that is no company in the U.S. is allowed to “lie” to the consumers, especially in a public commercial.

Look, all I want is the truth, I know iPhone 3G is still lagging behind Sprint and Verizon’s CDMA network so you don’t have to lie.

Next time, would you add “Time Elapsed” in the commercials so people know that it’s not really “blazingly” fast.

Heck, the iPhone 3G in the commercial is probably faster than my desktop landline LAN connection for god-sakes!

You are doing everything great Steve Jobs, just cut the bullshit out and we will keep lovin’ you.

Here’s and excerpt of False Advertising laws in the U.S. from Wikipedia:

Advertising is regulated by the authority of the Federal Trade Commission, a United States administrative agency, to prohibit “unfair and deceptive acts or practices in commerce.”[3] While it makes laymen’s sense to assume that being deceptive is being unfair, deceptiveness in practice has been treated separately by the FTC, leaving unfairness to refer only to other types.[4] All commercial acts may be deceptive, not just advertising, but noncommercial activity such as advertising for political candidates is not subject to prosecution under the FTC Act. The 50 states have similar statutes, which generally are very similar to that of the FTC and in many cases copied so closely that they are known as “Little FTC Acts.” While the terms “false” and “deceptive” are essentially the same for most, being deceptive is not the same as producing deception. What is illegal is the potential to deceive, which is interpreted to occur when consumers see the advertising to be stating to them, explicitly or implicitly, a claim that they may not realize is false and material. The latter means that the claim, if relied on for making a purchasing decision, is likely to be harmful by adversely affecting that decision. If an ad is implicitly false, evidence must be obtained for what consumers saw the ad saying, and for the materiality of that, and for the true facts about the advertised item, but no evidence is required that actual deception occurred, or that reliance occurred, or that the advertiser intended to deceive or knew that the claim was false.

Check out this new Wiimote charger that supposedly uses lighter lithium polymer batteries coupled with contactless re-charging.

Teknocreations has unveiled their InCharge battery pack and charge stand for Wiimotes. The new stand uses a set of lithium polymer batteries, which, according to the press release, are half as heavy as other rechargeables and work over hundreds of charges. Each charge provides 25 hours of gameplay. The stand can charge two Wiimotes side-by-side.

Posted in A+Featured Hacks, Computer, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Gadgets, HOWTO, Hack, Linux, Operating System, Projects, Ubuntu by max on the September 18th, 2008 at 11:57 pm

In case you have bought an ASUS Eee PC with Windows, there’s a special version of Ubuntu, customized just for the Eee PC models.

This allows you to install the Ubuntu on Eee PCs without too much headache as it has already been configured for the factory hardware.

Ubuntu Eee is not only Ubuntu optimized for the Asus Eee PC. It’s an operating system, using the Netbook Remix interface, which favors the best software available instead of open source alternatives (ie. Skype instead of Ekiga). Sounds great! How can I help out? Please consider contributing with knowledge or money. And while you’re at it, please become a fan on Facebook and add yourself to the map of users

Here’s some resources for Ubuntu Eee for all you Eee PC lovers:
