DIY HACK - Double the battery life

DIY HACK - Double the battery life

Check out this howto on doubling your battery life by replacing a linear voltage regulator (the thing that converts DC voltage, e.g. from 12V to 5V) to a switching regulator. Switching regulators are way more efficient than your typical off-the-shelve crappy regulators such as 7805 which get too hot too fast. Get the Dimension Engineering regulators here. This howto could easily be applied to any other device, not just radio stuff…

I first got the idea for this over on the thread for the DX6/7 on RCGRoups.com forums. I run nitro cars, so I bought a DX3. I used the radio for a while, and my battery life was on the better side of most radios–but the DX7 owners were getting like 5-6 hours of runtime after the mod. Now that’s what I’m talking about! I figured that the DX3 and the DX6/7 might be using the same regulator chip, due to the fact that the chip design and internal circuitry shoulden’t have changed that much. Less PCB tooling and all that.

Steel Mouse

Steel Mouse2

Check out this cool steel spider mouse from Japan!

Looks like it goes for around $100…

These mouse controls, like the Daruma mouse, are optical with motion sensors so you can control the cursor by tilting the mouse instead of sliding it over a pad. These also have directional button on the back of the ball if you want to manipulate the cursor without shifting your mouse. They are available in four different designs; clean, spider, L, and diamond; you can’t get a lettered mouse with any letter, just

Weightlifting Champion Robot

Check out this robot that can lift patients in hospital beds. Wow!

In a public demonstration held in Tokyo on March 28, a human-sized android showed off its weightlifting skills by successfully picking up a 30-kilogram (66-pound) package from a desk and lifting a 66-kilogram (145-pound) humanoid doll out of bed.

DIY - How to Collect Hydrogen and Oxygen!

Collecting Hydrogen and Oxygen

Here’s a cool instructable on how to collect some hydrogen and oxygen!

In this instructable I’ll give you a simple way to collect Hydrogen gas and if you want also, to collect Oxygen. Depending on the voltage and current that you use for the project this could be hazardous. I used a 14.4 volt power drill battery pack for the process but don’t recommend it, I only used it to achieve a noticeable effect in a short time period (about 20 minutes).

Sanki Manner Jet

Sanki Manner Jet

Sanki Manner Jet2

Check out the Sanki Manner Jet, which you can take “pollen showers” to get rid of those allergic pollens from the environment.

I ’spose I got carried away with the title as this is for removing pollen rather than cleaning the skin. You step in and your weight sets off the jets which spray you with clean air to knock off the pollen that has gathered on your clothes. Where does this pollen then go? The jets are designed so that the air hits you and moves particles in a counter-clockwise direction which are collected by pollen filters located on the right side of the booth.

Knight Rider for Sale!

Knight Rider for Sale!2

Cool, my favorite TV show Knight Rider’s trans-am is for sale! Only 150Gs! 1 of the 4 cars used in the show. I saw one of these at Universal Studio back in 1989. (I think I have a picture somewhere and a VIDEO! I will post it soon)

They are sellin’ this in dublin, California, so if you are in the san francisco bay area, it’s only a 30 minute drive at the most!

Own a piece of Television history!** 1982 Pontiac Trans Am 305 V-8 engine 2,393 original miles This vehicle has been “Title Only” never registered for street operation. PHS documentation This is one of the 3 original cars Pontiac donated to Glen Larson to film the Knight Rider TV series. It is one of only 4 surviving T-top cars from the series. (1083, 1084, 1087, 1177) None of the 10 series cars have ever been offered for public sale. Cars 1084 & 1087 are on display in museums. One in Keswick, England and the other in Auburn, Indiana. Car #1177 has had all electronics changed by a reproduction company and does not have any of the original equipment from the series. This car was a Picture or Hero car used in all 4 seasons of the series. In season 1&2 it was car #1083, for season 3&4 it was renumbered #1197 (Both numbers still remain on the car.) This car has been restored to it’s original season 1 condition Original dash with 2 operational TV’s. One connected to a camera in front of the car, the other connected to a DVD player with the audio speakers hidden under the nose. Original interior fabric (very rare and not available in reproduction.)
