Btw, most computers these days support USB boot, you just need to make your USB flash drive bootable by copying boot images into it.

WiMax Speed Test in Las Vegas!

wimax-speed-test

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVmymb1PXbc

Probably the most exciting technology of this year will be WiMax rolling out in the U.S.  Many cities in the U.S. already have launched WiMax in full service including Las Vegas.  At CES 2010, I got to test WiMax hands-on at the Motorola booth, using one of their latest 4G WiMax USB dongles.

In the simple test, I was able to get a 2Mbps download and 3.36Mbps upload.  This might not seem like very fast but at CES 2010, broadband speeds and even wired internet was simply horrible because people all over the world (who use a

Newnex USB 3.0 Repeater Cable Hands-on Review!

I had the pleasure of talking to the President of Newnex, Dr. Sam Liu at CES 2010 (Thank you btw for the interview.), who was demonstrating the world’s very first USB 3.0 repeater cable that can extend the standard maximum length of USB 3.0 of 3 meters to 12 meters. This little repeater cable and device consumes very little power yet can possibly let your USB 3.0 device work at a distance 4 times longer.  I am not sure if multiple repeaters can be used to go even further (although probably not), this still is a great solution to USB

Charger DIY – How to Make a Flower Vase Gadget Charger!

flower-vase-charger-diy

Here’s a guy who turned his flower vase into a USB gadget charger, I think this is a great idea and perhaps will inspire others to make their own custom chargers.  By the way, it’s not too awfully hard to make your own custom chargers if you simply understand the DC voltage basics.

Just as a general rule of thumb, let’s say your iPod charger is rated at 5V DC 500mA, then you just need to supply enough current, meaning anything with 5V DC and 50

Gas Oven Shaped USB Laptop Cooling Pad

gas oven.jpg

Max’s Note: Here’s a rather cool laptop cooling pad that also featured some cool LED-powered lights.

This is by far the most interesting looking laptop cooler I’ve seen around. The odd shape of this USB cooler is inspired by the gas oven. The cooler has dual fans, which should be powerful enough to keep your laptop as cool as required. It takes power directly from the computer’s USB port. Available for $12.69 at Uxsight.com.
