Xerox has developed a new ink that lets you “print” your circuit boards on paper. Not only will this make DIY PCBs obsolete, you can now make circuit boards that are flexible as paper. WOW!

Xerox researchers have invented a kind of ink that can conduct electricity and be used to put electronic circuits on top of plastics, film, and textiles. That means in the coming years we’ll be able to wear or bend our electronics. You could even print out your electronic gadget on plastic sheets, as if you were printing a document.

This is the Printstik PS910 ME and it is great for synchronising with a mobile phone, mini laptop or PDA it means that the user will be able to print off messages and documents while in the office or on the road. Connecting could not be simpler as it uses either a USB connection or Bluetooth, making ideal for printing off emails or even SMS messages too.

Obviously, this is not going to be your primary printer, but it makes good standby printer or one that can be just used while out travelling. It only uses thermal paper like what used to be in fax machines, but that could still be good enough when you are in a situation that requires something in black and white.

Inkjet DIY – How to Make a Self-Filling Inkjet System for Your Inkjet Printer!

One thing I don’t like about inkjet printer companies such as HP (although I love their products) is that ink itself can be more costly than the printer itself. No matter what, HP isn’t going to make a self-filling inkjet system as it’s going to take a big bite out of their ink sales.

Don’t worry though, there’s a step-by-step guide you can follow to accomplish this so you never have to buy new ink ever!

It beats me why CIS systems are so expensive, the ozi exchange doesn’t help but even so…. I was quoted AU$875.00 INC GST for a CIS kit (this includes some ink that I don’t want anyway). I could probably have imported a kit myself for half this amount but even this is expensive.
It took me a week and 5 versions of the prototype to figure it out but I’ve now printed a dozen perfect prints using a CIS which costs under $20 in parts and under 2 hours to build. The proof of concept prototype is not pretty but it works. My house now looks even more like a war zone, I look like I’ve been finger painting and people keep laughing at my creation – but it is all worth it.

Cheap Wireless Printers Review!

Okay, today we will review some of the cheapest wireless printers you can buy. Since we most people have Wi-Fi these days, I don’t see why not you should go with a wired printer when most wireless printers are under $150.

Anyways, without delay, I will be featuring some of the cheap, (or low-cost) wireless printers you can buy. (online of course, it’s cheaper than retail)

First up is a Brother MFC-490CW, it features Wireless G or ethernet connection with ability to fax/scan 15 pages at a time. One of the most important things I look for when buying an office equipment is that it’s multi-purpose, able to scan/fax multiple documents automatically.

Frankly, I have used Brother multi-function printer/scanners before and they are pretty good and don’t break down too easily over the years.

At $74.95 from Amazon, I don’t see how you can go wrong with this wireless printer, definitely recommended.

Second up is that HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-one printer. The highlight of this wireless printer is that you can print high-resolution photos too at 4800×1200 dpi, a rare feat among cheap wireless printers.

Other than that, it features a wireless-G connection plus ability to scan and copy while faxing capabilities are not there. If you don’t need a fax but you need to print out high-resolution photos once in awhile, this might be a better fit for you than the Brother MFC-490CW.

Priced at $102 at Amazon (at the time of this blog post), it’s still a steal over retail.

The next up is the Canon MP620 wireless printer featuring special ChromaLife100 system that lets you print photos that can last up to 100 years. Of course, it’s probably great marketing but 9600×2400 dpi is probably not too bad either.

At $219.95, I find the Canon a little more pricey over the Brother and HP so if you need the ultimate photo prints for your money, this is the choice.

Brother is great too if it’s for your small business.

I am still a little hesistant about the Canon because they have not been in the printer business for as long as the others so…
