DIY HOWTO - Linux Temperature Monitoring using the DS1820

Here’s how you can make your own Linux Temperature Monitoring system coupled with a DS1820
chip using the 1-wire communication protocol. Note that you could easily do this with a Basic Stamp,
which supports 1-wire protocol and just simply add a serial LCD.  But if you are a Linux lover like us,
you will want to try this out, maybe using an embedded Linux system like one from Atmel.

Check out STK1000 video and running Doom on STK1000, which is one of the best embedded Linux
platforms out there.  The AVR32, which is the processor for the STK1000, does outrun most ARM
processors.

Run Fedora and NES on PS3 as if it’s magic!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Games, Linux, Video, magic, ps3 by max on the November 20th, 2006 at 6:34 am

Breaking news! You can now run Fedora Core 5 on PS3!

Here’s some cool video of Fedora GUI and NES:

I just thought I would let you guys know, not only do I have Fedora Core 5 for PPC installed on my Playstation 3, but I actually ran through the boot loader and demonstrated how it works, whilst simultaneously video capturing the results. I edited it a little bit to reduce redundant frames (frames of just watching a cursor flash) so the whole thing comes in just over 3 minutes

DIY Hack - Wireless Keyboard Range Boost Hack

Okay, after a long work week, we are back relaxing at Lincoln Park in San Francisco…  Weather is very nice today and I got a lot of sleep (like 12 hours).  Tonight, we will cook some good food but before doing so:

Here’s how to extend your wireless keyboard range via hackedgadgets.  I wonder if you can do this to Apple Keyboards too…  But here’s a cool thread on how to connect an Apple wifi keyboard to Ubuntu.

I’ve always wanted to mess with UcLinux (Micro-C Linux), which is basically linux for embedded applications.
Here’s where you can buy one for like $210, which is a pretty good deal I’ve seen lately…

The iPod Linux I guess runs UcLinux…
Well I am gonna see if I can port it to some other things…

ZikiWiki - Technology wiki for hackers, diyers, mcu users, plc users, etc…

http://zedomax.com/image/200610/zikiwiki.gif

ZikiWiki is a technology wiki I created for technology. Well, right now I am just posting some stuff for my work but hopefully, it will get bigger and bigger and become a free useful tool for diyers, hackers, engineers, and etc…
Right now it’s in beta testing period, so if you need a place for your information organization, this might be a good place to start.

I thought about how restricted wikipedia was becoming, it’s like a free place that’s not free anymore, but here’s a wiki that is free, at least for now.
