Bamboo has been always one of my favorite sustainable materials for goods. My love for bamboo started when I used to catch dragonflies in Korea with a dragonfly catching net (which basically looks like a fishing rod with a net at the end) that was made from bamboo.

Anyways, here’s a Chinese company that’s making some great bamboo keyboards and mice. Perhaps whoever starts importing these into the States would make some big dollars.

This had to happen sooner or later, but here it is. What we have here is a standard looking keyboard but take a closer look and you will see that the letters have been replaced by images. Upon closer inspection, the images turn out to be logos.

This is a brand orientated keyboard with each letter being replaced by a brands logo, the brand has the same first letter as the letter on the keyboard that it has replaced. Naturally, it is going to take a bit of getting used to, but eventually it should work.

What with Hello Kitty appearing all over the place, now we are going to have to contend with seeing these furry keyboards all of the place. It is typical of the Japanese to up with something like this and actually, it is pretty cool and is bound to be of interest to many computer users.

What they have done is completely covered the edges of the keyboard with this faux fur, this makes sure that there are no sharp edges, although us computer users are kind or messy and I cannot see this fur staying that clean for too long, with sweets and drinks etc. This would look great with the cat’s tail USB flash drive.

They are supposed to be better than using any other keyboard, despite the keys being all over the place and buttons in places where buttons should not be and we worry as to why these keyboards never caught on at all!

There keyboards that have been specifically designed to help gamers perform better and then there are those that are designed with the web designer in mind, but these have still not caught on at all.

Here’s a really cool DIY “jailbroke” iPhone keyboard someone mustered up using IR, I guess anything is possible when you start hackin’ it. Simply nicely done guys.

Expanding on their audio port modem , PerceptDev engineers Zack Gainsforth and George Dean developed a hardware and software solution that allows infrared keyboards to be used for typing on the iPhone, using less than $20 of electronics.

The guys over at Lifehacker have done a marvelous job of eliminating copy & pasting keyword searches. Whether you are on your MS Word or any other application, you can use AutoHotKey to eliminate the “paste” part when you want to search for something.

Dear Tired of Copy/Paste,

Using the AutoHotkey scripting language we can throw together a tiny script that assigns the Ctrl+Shift+C shortcut key combination to automate coping the text to the clipboard, and then opens your default web browser with the Google search for the selected text.

You’ll want to start by downloading and installing AutoHotkey, and then simply create a new file with the *.ahk extension and paste in the following text, which uses the magic %clipboard% variable in the Google URL to pass in the search terms.

Once you’ve saved the file you can run it by double-clicking on the script, which will add a new icon to the system tray. If you want to remove the tray icon and have the script run completely in the background, add the following line to the beginning:

#NoTrayIconNow that the script is active, you can simply select text in any application, use Ctrl+Shift+C, and you’ll instantly see a Google search window for that term. If you want to use a different search engine, you can simply modify the URL line, or add a new hotkey (see the AHK Hotkey documentation).

Here’s a great way to make a cheap keyboard storage (or you can store files too) using magazine holders. This will be a good way to save space as you can “drill” the magazine holders onto the side or any part of your desk/furniture. Heck, I might even add couple of these to my wall, that’d really give me more storage!

This Instructable is a step-by-step guide to turning a cheap Aluminum Mesh Magazine Holder (available at any office supplies place, Wally World, or Target) into an attractive and stable desk-mounted storage caddy. My purpose was to hold a Keyboard and mouse, but you could put anything in it really.

There isn’t hardly anything around these day that has not been steampunked in one way or another, so it’s not the actual steampunking that is a surprise it is the quality of the work and the idea behind it that make these so interesting.

This keyboard has old type writer keys, in fact that do like the keys used in the enigma machine. However, version looks as if it has been lying around for years; the wood has the old look to it where you could almost imagine your fingers pushing through it. If you like, that sort of thing is very well made, but maybe not too practical though.

Because there are load of people around who actually think that they are Klingon warriors, at meeting they often like to dress up and even speak like the Klingon’s, it seems only natural that eventually someone brought out a suitable computer keyboard.

It is not ready yet, but come November this will be available to order, it will have 105 keys, PS/2 connection and at the moment will come in black, if you are feely in a humorous frame of mind you could always swap this keyboard over with somebody’s at work, just a thought!

This huge keyboard has been uncovered in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and has everyone confused or rather that is what they will be saying when this is uncovered in a few thousand years time. This is going to be one of those that confuse future people who can draw their own conclusions.
