DIY HACK - How to make your own White Board Plotter!

Lol, this has got to be the best DIY project I have seen this year. A white board plotter! I need this as I used my white board a lot but do feel if I had such an automated plotter, I could be doing a lot better at jotting down my ideas more clearly than what is now, simply scrambled jotting.
Well, using the Internet to take a look at the whiteboard isn’t that difficult: just take a webcam and point it at the board. Writing it will be a bit more difficult: there’s something like a plotter needed for that. I’d like the solution to be lightweight: while a completely Borgified whiteboard has its charm too, I’d like to alter mine as little as possible. That’s why I decided to use an idea I saw first at the 24C3: a way of hanging a pen using 2 rubber belts and two motors called a bipod. Problem was that I had no info of that device (I found the youtube-link while writing this article) so I had to work from memory.

Remember I did a G-Force Meter couple years ago? Here’s another cool DIY G-Force meter. The only difference it that it uses 7-segment display and a PIC18F series microcontroller.
After seeing so many applications using acceleromters making a simple project of my own with this cool sensor just seemed natural.
The main application of the accelerometer is either for sensing tilt or sensing acceleration. For this application A G-Force meter for my car will be made to see how many “G’s” I pull while driving.

DIY Dual Fan Controller Project

Here’s a nice little circuit diagram for all those hardcore DIYers if you are trying to build a dual fan controller using an ATtiny45 although I’d never use this thing, I’d rather use a CUBLOC.
Over the course of a weekend, I cobbled together some leftover robot parts to create a simple dual-fan controller. The board turns on the first fan when the temperature reaches a user-adjustable dial setting, and it turns on a second fan if the temperature exceeds an additional 5 degrees Fahrenheit. With this method, only a single fan is used if the temperature can be kept under control with only one fan, but both fans will kick on if necessary.
DIY - Robotic Yellow Drum Machine plays Drums!

Wow, this has to be one of the cooler DIY robots I’ve seen in a long time. Basically, it plays drums. Not real drums, but it plays your household stuff like vases as drums. Beautifully done, we give it an A+ for the creators. (Btw, we are not selling the blog for $1000, our readers say it’s too cheap! How much should we sell it for? j/k April FOOLS!)
Notice how the robot first plays on the object it finds (or is forced to find by the angry cameraman), plays a small beat, and records the beat it plays on it. Then this recorded beat is played again, and it starts to play on the object (an belt tracks and everything else it has),and also playing this sampled beat

Here’s a funny cheap lie detector you can make. I don’t know if it really works since there’s no circuit diagrams but you can find lots of lie detector circuit diagrams on the internet like this one I found in about 5 seconds:

Yes, these lie detectors probably won’t work on cats, maybe try dogs.
DiscoLitez - Winamp Plugin that allows you to build cool party lights!

Check out this cool Winamp plugin that allows you to convert Winamp songs to sound-activated lights!
DiscoLitez is a Winamp plugin that allows you to control lighting equipment from your computer. This is done using the printer port and some external switching/driving circuitry. At the moment, you’ll have to build the circuits yourself, but they are not complicated.

Easy plug switching
For people who have to use an extension lead in order to house all of the plugs that are needed to get power for all of your hi tech gadgets and any else that you are going to need to get you through the day.

This means that the plugs can stay in place but the power can be switched off by just raising the plug and therefore cutting the power to that particular device.
