Integrated Desk with embedded PC and Fold-Away Monitor

Integrated Desk with embedded PC and Fold-Away Monitor

Wow, check this integrated desk with embedded PC and fold-away monitor!  Great concept, maybe Apple might go for something like this.

It’d be even better if you could do “dual-monitor” setup.

Besides being absolutely beautiful, this Sync Desktop concept from designer Gareth Battensby features a fold-away widescreen monitor and keyboard, a built in USB hub, scanner, mouse, webcam, easy-to-access DVD unit, and plenty of storage space. And because it is all seamlessly integrated into the design, the Sync can be converted into a standard desk for other projects whenever necessary. The only problem is that I doubt that it could ever become a commercial product unless there was a way to upgrade the hardware.

DIY Hard Disk Drive Drum Machine!

DIY Hard Disk Drive Drum Machine!

Wow, this is awesome! This guy is serious about recycling. The hard disks are connected to his MIDI system and are all coordinated to play drums. Well watch the video after the jump to see it in action!

Fibra from Belgrade has created an interesting drum system. It uses old hard drive read/write arms as drum hammers. The original hard drive voice coils are used to move the arms. The picture above is the new system which doesn’t seem to be documented yet, have a look at the video for a demonstration of the first version. If you need a larger hard drive project fix have a look at these hard drive projects.

Microsoft TouchWall an Inexpensive Multi-touch Display for any Wall!

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Here’s a cool innovation by Microsoft (MSFT) on their new inexpensive multi-touch display that can be used on any wall. This could be good.  This is the first time Microsoft offered something at a lower price than their competition.  I am starting to like Microsoft again but Vista still sucks.

Microsoft is quick to say that they have no current plans to productize and sell TouchWall. But the potential of the system is obvious - Prately spoke animatedly about a future where the computing experience is less monitor/keyboard/mouse and more like an architect’s desk, with user input primarily directly on the screen and via voice commands, with keyboard/mouse type input used more for data entry or office type editing tasks.

TouchWall certainly isn’t the first multi-touch product we’ve seen (see iPhone). In addition to Surface, of course, there are a number of early prototypes emerging in this space. But what Microsoft has done with a few hundred dollars worth of readily available hardware is stunning.

GreenGoogMouse - Google\'s Recycled Plastic Mouse!

Here’s a cute green wireless mouse from Google (GOOG) that’s made out of recycled plastic. Great job Googlers! :)

The recycled mini wireless mouse is in fact made from recycled plastic, as is the packaging that it comes with.

But the in general the mouse is a typical wireless mouse with the dongle hidden inside the red or blue mouse body. It also has included in the $19.20 price tag are the two AAA batteries.
