What’s StumbleUpon afraid of?

What’s StumbleUpon afraid of?3

In a recent encounter with StumbleUpon’s banning of 20 accounts in our network, we have conjured up a little bit of something we read in a book by Guy Kawasaki, “How to drive your competition crazy.” In the book, there’s an example of how Ben & Jerry’s turned a law-suit into an hilarious marketing victory.

Here’s our version on StumbleUpon’s latest diplomatic policies:

Do you think the Stumbleboy is afraid of two guys working in a rented apartment of 800 square feet?

Do you think the Stumbleboy is afraid he’s only going to make $61.3 million in profits instead of $61.8 million?

Do you think that maybe the Stumbleboy is afraid of the American Dream?

We only want to make the most fun site and let people of the internet make their choice on the internet, where guys like us can compete with guys like the Stumbleboy.

Next time you are surfing the web, uninstall that hideous looking 50 pixel StumbleUpon toolbar that takes up too much of your browser space and start using “extension-less” SiteHoppin. Because to tell you the truth, that’s what the Stumbleboy is really afraid of.

Hey, if you wanna help us and fight this bs, put this drunken button on your blog.  We will add you to our blogroll so you go up with us when our press release go out tomorrow.

The art of climbing

Posted in Art, Business Ideas, Cool, Funny, Games, money by david on the January 31st, 2008 at 7:00 am

It seems that climbing is all of the rage these days, and now it comes in a gallery form.

picture wall

These are those walls that are used to have people climbing up them as an artificial rock face. However someone had the brilliant idea of adding a few picture frames, just to make it look at bit natural.

Build your own Apple Store

Posted in Apple, Business Ideas, Cool, Design, Industrial by max on the January 26th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

Build your own Apple Store

Here’s a great resource of what Apple uses to build their stores. I didn’t know they used so many stuff…it’s cool to know though just in case you want to build your own store like an Apple store.

If you want to re-model your home in the style of an Apple store, here are links to the suppliers of the actual items they use.

The designs of the Apple stores may not be particularly original in terms of architecture, however they break new boundaries in retail design with an attention to detail that is normally only found in major public buildings. The principal inspirations for Apple’s interiors range from Norman Foster’s Mediatheque in Nimes, with its central glass staircase and I.M. Pei’s entrance to the Louvre which is the inspiration for the fifth avenue store. Although the cube itself (particularly when it was shrouded in black) is more like the Kaab at Mecca, proving that Apple is a religion after all.

Many of the fittings they use, such as Erco lighting are used by people like Pei and Foster (where I used to work) and the exterior panels are made by the same firm that provided the panels for San Francisco’s greatest modern building - the De Young Museum.

Flying stick cam

Posted in Audio, Business Ideas, Cameras, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets by david on the January 25th, 2008 at 6:00 am

Obviously this will only be any good outside unless you live a huge house, but the idea is really cool as the unit is self powered and requires no batteries at all.

flying stick

While in the air it can lift like a helicopter and has built in face detection which will mean that whatever the subject is, it will remain in focus. As the power reduces it will begin to lose height and come down to the ground

Not many more details on this or price yet.

World Record - John Chow is the Blogging Seinfeld? He makes money making fun of the internet!

John Chow is the Blogging Seinfeld?

John Chow is the Blogging Seinfeld?2

As you well know, my blogger friend John Chow was on Entrepreneur this month! He’s coined as the “Blogging Seinfeld”. I couldn’t agree more. There’s a lot of people saying how John Chow is a spam blog but I disagree with that. He made a new blogging topic, “Making Money Online” so explosive that now you see thousands of blogs like John Chow’s.

If it wasn’t for his blog, I doubt there would be such an enormous “buzz” around the internet about making money online with blogs.

Well, I honestly think there’s still a lot of money to be made on the internet.

This will probably keep growing for another 20 years, especially in the US, where it’s hard to find a job fresh out of college. I bet job hiring rate is a lot higher in India.

Not that I am complaining since I am “jobless and broke”. But I am figuring my way around the internet like John by selling off some of my websites steadily and taking on some random jobs.  If you wanna help me from going bankrupt and live on the streets, go check out SiteHoppin.

Anyways, congrats to John Chow for gettin’ on Entrepreneur!

(p.s. I have an advertisement on John Chow for SiteHoppin, I hope this article boosts John’s blog traffic. :) )

Here’s a little video of my February edition of Entrepreneur, do you have a copy yet?
