24K Gold-Plated Bike for Rich Snobs!

I would never want to become a rich snob but if you do, here’s a great 24 carat gold-plated bike you can get.  Looks like you can win one if you live in the UK.

A UK based insurance company, ETA, is offering a custom-made 24K gold-plated Charge Plug bicycle complete with customized seat, handlebars and chain to mark the Green Transport Week. The Midas ride comes with its own security guard. But, there are certain restrictions in case you want to buy this hell of a pimped ride like you must be eighteen years old, live in the UK, and get a free quote online for cycle insurance in order to enter the contest.

Bike Powered Tennis Ball Launcher!

Here’s a fun DIY, a bike that’s powers a tennis ball launcher.

Pretty good stuff…

Both cleanly powered and built from 2 recycled bicycles, scrap steel and wood, leaking 5 gallon water jug and a lacross stick, our pedal powered tennis ball launcher was created as a unique entry for the innovate or die pedal powered machine contest.
It allows players varying in skill levels to practice to be better at both tennis and cycling. The launcher is towed to the court on its built-in bicycle trailer. A bike is secured to it and functions to drive the device. Pedaling the cycle as one would on a trainer drives the two launcher wheels. The cyclist then aims using the bike handlebars to and pulls the lever to launch balls to the hitter.

Speed Motorcycle!

Speed Motorcycle!

It’s probably impossible to ride on but still, it looks way futuristic.

I don’t know if the Speed Racer will ever go into production, but for a design with the balls to take elements from three iconic franchises (maybe four if you count TRON), the bike holds up well.

DIY - How to Make a Skunk Motorcycle Helmet!

DIY - How to Make a Skunk Motorcycle Helmet!

Really, I wouldn’t make something skunky like this but still, it’s funny as hell.

Do you want your head to stand out in a crowd?
Enjoy making people go “What was that?”
Smell bad?
This one is for you!
I have seen motorcyclists with a “mohawk” stripe on their helmets, but I wanted a different one. My helmet is plain black, so what else to do but put a Skunk stripe on it!

RocketShields for rainy days on your Motorcycle!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Travel, bikes by max on the June 9th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

RocketShields for rainy days on your Motorcycle!

Here’s an interesting RocketShield, that will protect you from rain on your bad weather commutes. Personally, I would never spend money on something like this but there’s should be plenty people who might be in need of this.

For the record, this shield does seem to have aero-dynamic effects so you don’t have to crouch down going at higher speeds.  Maybe the racers might start pickin’ up on this.

What originally started as a remedy to keep the rain off of my face while commuting daily from Ensenada, Mexico to San Diego, has now evolved into a whole new riding experience with results that have far surpassed any of my previous expectations.

The most frequent question I’m asked by people analyzing this never seen before spectacle on wheels is, “What’s that for?”
After riding with this canopy on for over a month now in all different types of weather and road conditions, I can finally wrap up all of my answers into one word…..”Comfort”.

With my Rocketshields canopy, I no longer have to wear a full face helmet that squishes my fat cheeks, fogs up when its too cold or too hot, impairs my peripheral vision and hearing, and makes my head smell like a sweaty sock. I now sport a skateboard style motorcycle skid lid without having to wear sunglasses or goggles. Even at high speeds, the turbulence felt and heard is equal to that of driving a car with both windows rolled down.

Cargo Bike for Moms

Cargo Bike for Moms

Here’s an interesting cargo bike that can carry your children to school instead of guzzling your 4×4 SUV.

The popularity of the machines is likely to have been boosted by Richmond raising the cost of a parking permit for a large-engined “gas guzzler” to £150. It is also considering charging £75 for an annual permit to drop children off at school by car.

Tony Juniper, director of Friends of the Earth, said he had bought his wife a cargo bike for Christmas: ‘We’ve been trying to cut down on car use and this is perfect for shopping and carrying heavier goods. We even take our youngest to chess matches.’
