Although this hack isn’t probably the most effective way to blast sound from your iPod, it can be a great way to get some more sound out of your iPod earphones 2AM in the morning when you can’t even go to BestBuy to buy some cheap, decent iPod speakers.

Of course, I have 2 iPod earphones that just went bad on me, they crap out after about 3 months of use.  I have recently switched to 2XL earphones, cheap and louder.

This is a fun project. Four single-serving paper cups, two tooth picks (for holding cups together) + iPod with classic earbuds.
The increase in volume, of coarse, is radiculous, but hey, you get stylish iPod accessory out of nothing!. : -)

The report said that those who listened for five hours a week at high-volume settings exposed themselves to more noise than permitted in the noisiest factory or work place. Maximum volume on some devices can generate as much noise as an airplane taking off nearby.

The Scientific Committee opinion argues that if users of personal music players listen for only five hours a week at volumes exceeding 89 decibels, that level would exceed the current limits in place for noise allowed in the work place.

Last year in Britain, the Royal National Institute for Deaf People warned that more than two-thirds of young people who regularly use MP3 players faced premature hearing damage.

New Apple Earphones coming soon...

As someone who has gone through 3 iPod earphones (the ones that come with iPods), I can appreciate the need for better earphones, especially for listening to music on my iPod with the volume at the max limit.

Well, as soon as I heard that these new in-ear earphones are going to be available in October for $79, I got too excited and pooped it out.  there. happy?
