Android Smartphones are Most Popular Smartphones of 2011!

Android smartphones have indeed proven to be more popular than any other smartphones including Nokia and Apple, with a market share of over 40% while everyone else falls short of 20%.

What next?

This just means we, as consumers will get better prices and better products. Android smartphones range from low-budget teenager phones to 3D phones like HTC Evo 3D, allowing most households to afford one while Apple is really for niche market for those people who are brand-whored. As for Nokia and RIM, their innovations is clearly lacking, I have not seen a single person car

HTC Launches OpenSense Open Source SDK!

One of the things I like about HTC is that they are going to open source all of their HTC Android smartphones and tablets. Which is great for people who are trying to install new ROMs, unlock their phones, etc…etc…

Finally, HTC launches OpenSense SDK, which is basically a development environment for their HTC devices. The new site also hints at “Unlock Bootloader” feature, which will be coming soon and phones that have been locked as of recently like the HTC Evo 4G, will benefit greatly from users being able to root their phones again.

How to Turn your Android device into Remote Live View CAM for Canon DSLR with Android App “DSLR Controller”!

I’ve been actually looking for something like this, a Live View camera that can be tethered to my Canon 7D DSLR camera so I can have better control while I take 1080P videos I upload to YouTube.

It’s an Android app called DSLR Controller that turns any Android device (including Android smartphone/tablet) into a Live View cam.

Why a need for such things?

DIY Android WiFi Controlled RC Car!

Here’s a cool implementation of Android smartphone controlling an RC car via WiFi.  I know there’s a bunch of ways to use Arduino with Android but this is an example that there’s no limits to what you can do with an Android device and your brain.

The RC car (battery powered) is completely controlled by Flyport. The module manages Wi-Fi link to an Android Smartphone and it drives the servo motors (PWM signal). On the following video you see the Android phone internal accelerometers drive directly the RC Car.

Pantech Vega No.5 Android Tabletphone Does 1.5Ghz Dual-Core and Whupass!

Back in 2003 after I graduated from college, Pantech was a small company in South Korea that developed smartphones for the Korean market.  I actually had  a job offer from there but refused because their headquarters is located far away from Seoul city since I am a city-slicker.

Anyways, Pantech has been slowly growing over the years it seems they’ve just launched the new Pantech Vega No. 5 with dual-core 1.5Ghz processor.  This is exciting as it means there’s going to be slew of other smartphones with a similar processor coming out later this year.

Android Arduino!

The big news this week from Google’s IO Conference in San Francisco is that Google will be pushing for the development of Android Arduino, inviting all Arduino developers all over the world to utilize the power of Android with Arduino.

I think this is going to be great and I will personally be making some Android Arduino hacks soon so watch out for that.

You can read more about the Android Open Accessory Kit.

The Android 3.1 platform (also backported to Android 2.3.4) int
