How to Make a DIY PID-Controlled Crock Pot!

One of the coolest devices for cooking and brewing is a temperature-controlled crock pot.  I actually have a similar project that I am working on using a PID to control the temperature of my Korean rice wine that I brew at home but you can use this example of a DIY PID-controlled crock pot for many applications.

There are some home appliances you simply can’t buy (way too expensive) but you can make them yourself using a PID controller.

What is a PID controller?

PID controller is basically a piece of computer that can control temperature of another electronic device precisely and accurately in layman’s terms.  Most PIDs are used for industrial purposes, like keeping the temperature right for making soup at the soup factory.  But PID can be very useful as this project shows you.
