We like anything that’s free, but free Wi-Fi is always something to be careful with as this is not the Parks Department providing this service, it’s a carrier and in this case its Time Warner and Cablevision.
It’s part of a $10 million deal that allows users of Wi-Fi enabled equipment free internet access for thirty minutes a month, that sounds like a minute day, which would be enough time for me to press the mail button on my iPhone and download all of my messages twice a day.
However, it is not that easy, the thirty minutes have to be taken in three ten minute chunks, after which a charge of 99 cents a day will apply. So maybe that is not so cool after all, as there are other places where Wi-Fi is free.
Of course, it would seem that customers of Time Warner and Cablevision will be getting free Wi-Fi 24/7.
