RFID Tech On A Roll

It will not be long before the barcode is dead no longer used in the supermarkets because it has been replaced with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

These RFID tags used to be expensive but now they come a roll and can be added to any product including the shopping trolley in the superstore, this means that, all the shopper is going to need to do is pass the trolley through the check out and it will automatically read all of the RFID’s.

Sounds good but the retailers will get more out of this than the customer, as stock control can easily be managed, in fact a quick scan could tot up the entire stores stock in seconds.
