Make your own GPS treasure box

by David Allen on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

This is an interesting concept where you have ornamental box that is locked and the only way to open it is to get it to a precise location and press the button, you only have fifty chances to get the lid open before it reaches lock down.

Each time the button is pressed you get to know how far away from the target you are, but don’t do it too many times! Have some fun with your Last Will and Testament!

What you are going to need:

1 Arduino Duemilanove

1 USGlobalSat EM-406A GPS module

1 8×2 blue backlight HD44780 LCD

1 Hitec HS-311 servo motor

1 illuminated pushbutton

1 low voltage Pololu power switch

1 2.5mm female DC power connector

1 Adafruit Arduino prototype shield

1 ornamental box”
