Strange shape for speaker

This is a portable iPod speaker nothing unusual about that they have been around for ages. However, these days there seems to be a wave of new devices that are coming out all of which have strange shapes similar to those appliances found in the kitchen.
This one is in fact in the shape of an iron, but why? Sure, this is not just a speaker it is also a radio and an alarm clock making this an ideal travel companion. This device only requires two AA batteries for power.
