Solar powered rechargeable batteries

by David Allen on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

This has to be one of the great ideas if only it can be made to work properly and at a price that is right. Unfortunately, this is still in the prototype stages but as you can see from the images, there is the potential there for a great device.

The system has been named the SunCat and is the brainchild of designer Knut Karlsen. He uses a set of ordinary NiMH rechargeable batteries and wraps them with Photo Voltiac cells. As soon as the batteries are running low, all that is required is for the user to take them out of the device and place in sunlight where they will be charged up, this is idea is so cool, its hot!
