Sir you are a silly person. You clearly have no idea of what you are talking about when it comes to Macs.

I will agree with you on one thing, however I still feel differently about it.

Apple does have a monopoly in a sense b/c of the fact that they do not openly provide their OS to be installed on PC’s. They are only allowed to be installed on their own brand of computers, however it is quite possible to run OS X on a hackintosh PC. I’ve seen it done time after time. If Apple were to openly give their OS to others, then Apple would be giving away their most prized possession. Everyone wants it, but no one else can have it. Such is the beauty behind Apple’s marketing. It’s genius really.

Windows is good for several specific applications, such as business and games. It is also what most users are more accustomed to because of Windows pre-installing their OS on each PC. This is true.

There is quite a lot that one can accomplish on a PC, but trying things on a Mac are so much more simple. I own a Macbook Pro, and currently I have OS X, Windows Vista (for games and games ONLY), Ubuntu 8.1, and the Win 7 beta (for testing). Can your PC quad boot that easily? It’s relatively simple, just use refit.

Also it’s true. Mac’s don’t get viruses. End of story. Malicious code cannot replicate as easily under UNIX, as it can for a Windows machine. Meaning I’d have to be plum stupid to get a virus on my Mac. As my boy TheBlueHour from youtube puts it, “I think it’s funny that when a Mac user seriously is having a problem with his/her computer, a fellow apple user will stop and honestly try to help that person with whatever the issue may be. But on the PC users side, if someone has a problem, someone else just makes another virus for them.” Boy that honestly is the truth.

Don’t hate on me b/c “Mac’s don’t have right clicks, or they can’t play games”. That sir is BS. Mac’s have right clicks, in fact 3 different ways to right click. And Mac’s can play games. It’s just game developers don’t make as many for that target market. It’s like the 360 vs the PS3. 360 has more games than PS3 b/c developers like to make them on Microsoft’s console. However in this case, a PS3 cannot run 360 games, but my Mac can run anything as good or better than a PC. We hold LAN parties just for Mac’s at my school, but we usually have people bring a PC or 2, and we have copies of the game and of course let them play too.

I think one of the funniest thing is when a person who owns a PC has a Apple sticker on their case. I mean it’s hilarious to me, b/c you never see apple users running around with big Windows stickers on the outside of theirs.

PC world once said in an article that the fastest computer running windows was on a Mac.

The way I look at it, my $2500+ investment is going to allow me to do anything I want, run anything I want, get me all the way through college, if something breaks Apple will replace it and ship it back to me in 2 (yes 2) days, and when I go to resale my computer I’ll be able to make a hefty chunk of change off of it. (My friend just sold his for over $1000 and he’s had it for nearly 3 years.) Why is resale so good? Simple b/c Mac’s are popular. It’s the #1 selling laptop on college campuses. I’m a graphic design student, and I wouldn’t have any other computer.

I’m not a die hard sell out fanboy to Apple. I am a windows user, and a linux user. I sir, like to use what works best for me. And if Apple’s brand lets me do all of that on their machine, then I will certainly continue to support them.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. “Owning a Mac is like having your cake, and eating it too. It’s exactly what you want, with the added bonus of everything else.”

Yes, Macintosh doesn’t have a blue screen of death, but it is uterly useless. Anyone who thought a dock and a bar at the top of the screen is going to solve any problems is wrong.

Microsoft ‘may’ have some sort of monopoly going on where it installs Windows on every PC, but there are two things wrong with that statement.

1. If Mac doesn’t like this, then why don’t they just open up their OS to other computer vendors instead of using its own over-priced computers.

2. The reason for it being on many computers in the world is: IT WORKS. It is adaptable to any business, it works in educational institutions, it just god damn works.

Anyway, thats my rant for today.

For two, Microsoft’s revenue might be big but their popularity is nothing compared to Apple’s. Everyone hates the blue death screen, there’s no blue death in Apple. I think we are talking more in terms of opinions, not just money.

In my mind, Microsoft’s monopoly of installing Windows on every PC sold has got them there, not because they are good. Why do I have to re-install Windows, Firefox, etc…etc… everytime I buy a computer?

And when you say that Microsoft may have a chance against the “Big Apple,” you surely can’t mean Apple, the makers of the Macbook Pro. The only reason I say this is because Microsoft’s revenue is twice Apple’s, and because they have about 15 times the consumer base that Apple does. So I guess what I mean to say is that I’m confused about something else: in what way, exactly, is Apple bigger than Microsoft, and when in the past has Microsoft NOT had a chance when going up against them?
