Here’s a fun DIY clock made from bike parts!
The clock is build out of bicycle parts. One of the design principles was to use only used elements. Edison once said that to invent you need good imagination and a pile of junk. The designers took his advice seriously.
The Bike clock was build by Yedidya Vardi and Vladimir Zviagintsev of the Ron Vardi Center for the Development of the Gifted, in Rishon Lezion - Israel
Human Mind-controlled Robotic Arm!
Wow, this IS mind-numbing and also way too cool to watch…
Holy shit, now he’s showing a video of a guy using the arm using only his MIND. He learned this technique in two days, but Dean says it was more like the system learned how to interface with the human.
Looking at what he’s doing, the guy drinks and people applaud. It’s been two days. But the amazing thing is that he’s put the cup down so it’s become a lower brain stem function in two hours of doing cup functions.
Toyota rolls out Night View “Body Detection” system!

Wow, here’s an innovation that’s only going to get better and better from Toyota.
It’s a night view system that detects people at speeds lower than 60km/hour. Well, eventually, they should be able to add a feature where the car will stop automatically if the car is running into a human being.
Future is here!
The newest Crown Hybrid employs pattern recognition to recognize pedestrians. Multiple sets of image data on the shapes of pedestrians have been prepared and, the shape of the image shot by the system is compared with the data. When the system determines that a pedestrian is present, yellow frames are displayed around the pedestrian as well as the entire image on the screen.
The yellow frame surrounding the entire image helps driver to recognize pedestrians without moving the sight to the LCD meter.
The LCD meter has a resolution of 1280 x 480 dots. The size of the image indicated by the Night View system is 614 x 346 dots. Vehicle speed, brightness and weather are the conditions that affect the activation of the pedestrian detection function of the Night View system.

Pong cycle anyone???
Cyclepong is an update of the classic arcade game Pong to use bikes as the controllers. To read about the first version of Cyclepong go to the Cyclepong page. I always wanted Cyclepong to be something that lots of people would get to play with. My original idea was to take it to music festivals over the summer, but things took a bit of an unexpected turn after I took it to the Dorkbot London Christmas special.
One of the people who played Cyclepong at Dorkbot was Tessa Hunkin who was there showing her lovely work on illuminated books. She suggested her brother Tim Hunkin might be interested as he runs an alternative amusement arcade on Southwold Pier. Through Tim we arranged to demonstrate Cyclepong to the pier’s manager Stephen one winter afternoon.
