Θα επιθυμούσα τη λύση για να είμαι ελαφριά: while a completely Borgified whiteboard has its charm too, I’d like to alter mine as little as possible. That’s why I decided to use an idea I saw first at the 24C3: a way of hanging a pen using 2 rubber belts and two motors called a bipod. Problem was that I had no info of that device (I found the youtube-link while writing this article) so I had to work from memory.

I ran into this nice gentleman, Chris, a co-founder of ThoughtFarmer.com. They provide IntraNet solutions to your company using easy to use web interfaces where your employees and employers can interact within the company w/o using traditional methods of communication such as e-mail and documents.

It’s sorta like a those Enterprise Wikis but the first thing I noticed about their Intranet platform is the quality graphics and simple design as shown here:

ThoughtFarmer provides awesome Intranet platform!

The funny thing that happened during the meeting was not the company itself but how they were marketing using some guerilla tactics. Chris showed me how they made this “fake company” all with employee badges and a welcome letter, sent to about 50 well known bloggers. I guess a lot of bloggers founded very creative and funny so they posted it about it such as ReadWriteWeb.

Anyways, you can check out how they did it all at their blog post over here. Next time you use this type of pyro marketing, you can thank me and Chris for it. They actually even paid $5,500 bucks to a marketing firm so get some free marketing tips over at their blog!

Shape-Shifting Robot Re-Assembles Itself and Dis-Assembles…

Lol….this robot is funny… basically it re-assembles then dis-assembles. Very pointless robot that could be applied for a robot with an important task.

Composed of 15 modules arranged in groups of five, each of CKbot’s clusters have a module with a 20fps camera, a blinking LED, and a accelerometer to reconstruct the entire robot, tied by magnets. Each of the other 12 modules have an embedded computer, proximity sensors, and a servo motor with 180 degrees that allows for a rotational range of about 180 degrees.

Watch powered by compressed air!

Here’s a cool watch to hope that it gets on the market soon.  I do like it over those Swatches that wind by walking or movement.  (I had those Swatches fail on me before it I am working 24/7 in front of a computer and whenever I did move around, I usually took the watch off so…)

The UR-202 Hammerhead Automatic from Urwerk is a watch that demands your respect. It’s actually quite impressive. It features a unique winding system that’s regulated using compressed air. The 202 uses miniature twin turbines to control the rate of automatic winding and the level of air compression can be controlled using a 3-position selector switch.

DIY HACK - How to make your own Sawed-Off USB Cable!

DIY HACK - How to make your own Sawed Off USB!

Yey, here’s a fun little DIY for those of you who want to mask your secret USB drives as a “Sawed-Off USB Cable“.

This might prove to be the best security protection you ever had for your USB device. (Why didn’t I think of this before???)

Holy crap– somebody just went and TORE MY FREAKING USB CABLE IN HALF while it was still attached to my laptop!!!

No– wait– sorry. That’s just my USB drive. My bad. Never mind.

Wind Power to power your gadgets!

Wind Power to power your gadgets!

Here’s a cool gadget called HyMini that will wind power to re-charge your gadgets.  Although it’s a hefty price to pay at $50, it probably beats building one yourself.  (You could make one for about $20 for sure.)  They did overprice this thing probably for the design.  If they mass-produced it in the near future, it should only cost you around 5 bucks.

If you drive to work on the highway a lot, this might come in handy as you can simply hang it out your window for some nice 80mph wind power.

There’s also an option to use solar power too, which is way too cool.

HYmini is a handheld, universal charger/adapter device that harnesses renewable wind power / solar power and conventional wall plug power to recharge almost all your 5V digital gadgets.

DIY HACK - How to Build a Prepaid Cellphone GPS tracker!

Well, here’s a cool little hack for anyone who’s interested in building a GPS tracker for fun. Although I’d rather stick to my GoogleMaps on my Blackberry, this is good info for anyone who wants to build a custom app.

The Open GPS Tracker is a small device which plugs into a $20 prepaid mobile phone to make a GPS tracker. The Tracker responds to text message commands, detects motion, and sends you its exact position, ready for Google Maps or your mapping software. The Tracker firmware is open source and user-customizable.

Snap.com offering publisher revenues to bloggers and alike @ Web 2.0 Expo 2008 SF

I had a chance to stop by Snap’s booth AGAIN after seeing them AdTech. So, I finally got Brendon to talk to me about their new publisher program that pays you for using Snap.com on your site.

Btw, Snap.com is a free service that gives you a snapshot of the hyperlinked URL when you hover over it.
I had this on some of my “failed” social networking sites over here.

By using their publisher program (which I believe is by invitation only), you can get a share of their ad revenue from those snap shots.  Of course, you need some good quality content and minimum traffic of 250,000 views or more per month.

I will be e-mailing Brendon soon and try out the publisher program to see if I can get better results than I am with my other advertisers.  I will have another review in about a month to tell you how it worked so make sure to subscribe to Zedomax!

(Thanks again Brendon, for the explanation of your new program!)
