DIY HACK - How to make your own White Board Plotter!

Lol, this has got to be the best DIY project I have seen this year. A white board plotter! I need this as I used my white board a lot but do feel if I had such an automated plotter, I could be doing a lot better at jotting down my ideas more clearly than what is now, simply scrambled jotting.
Well, using the Internet to take a look at the whiteboard isn’t that difficult: just take a webcam and point it at the board. Writing it will be a bit more difficult: there’s something like a plotter needed for that. I’d like the solution to be lightweight: while a completely Borgified whiteboard has its charm too, I’d like to alter mine as little as possible. That’s why I decided to use an idea I saw first at the 24C3: a way of hanging a pen using 2 rubber belts and two motors called a bipod. Problem was that I had no info of that device (I found the youtube-link while writing this article) so I had to work from memory.

ThoughtFarmer provides awesome Intranet platform!

I ran into this nice gentleman, Chris, a co-founder of ThoughtFarmer.com. They provide IntraNet solutions to your company using easy to use web interfaces where your employees and employers can interact within the company w/o using traditional methods of communication such as e-mail and documents.
It’s sorta like a those Enterprise Wikis but the first thing I noticed about their Intranet platform is the quality graphics and simple design as shown here:

The funny thing that happened during the meeting was not the company itself but how they were marketing using some guerilla tactics. Chris showed me how they made this “fake company” all with employee badges and a welcome letter, sent to about 50 well known bloggers. I guess a lot of bloggers founded very creative and funny so they posted it about it such as ReadWriteWeb.
Anyways, you can check out how they did it all at their blog post over here. Next time you use this type of pyro marketing, you can thank me and Chris for it. They actually even paid $5,500 bucks to a marketing firm so get some free marketing tips over at their blog!

Lol….this robot is funny… basically it re-assembles then dis-assembles. Very pointless robot that could be applied for a robot with an important task.
Composed of 15 modules arranged in groups of five, each of CKbot’s clusters have a module with a 20fps camera, a blinking LED, and a accelerometer to reconstruct the entire robot, tied by magnets. Each of the other 12 modules have an embedded computer, proximity sensors, and a servo motor with 180 degrees that allows for a rotational range of about 180 degrees.
Watch powered by compressed air!

Here’s a cool watch to hope that it gets on the market soon. I do like it over those Swatches that wind by walking or movement. (I had those Swatches fail on me before it I am working 24/7 in front of a computer and whenever I did move around, I usually took the watch off so…)
The UR-202 Hammerhead Automatic from Urwerk is a watch that demands your respect. It’s actually quite impressive. It features a unique winding system that’s regulated using compressed air. The 202 uses miniature twin turbines to control the rate of automatic winding and the level of air compression can be controlled using a 3-position selector switch.
DIY HACK - How to make your own Sawed-Off USB Cable!

Yey, here’s a fun little DIY for those of you who want to mask your secret USB drives as a “Sawed-Off USB Cable“.
This might prove to be the best security protection you ever had for your USB device. (Why didn’t I think of this before???)
Holy crap– somebody just went and TORE MY FREAKING USB CABLE IN HALF while it was still attached to my laptop!!!
No– wait– sorry. That’s just my USB drive. My bad. Never mind.
