USB Bomb - Weapon of Mass Storage!

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Gadgets, USB by max on the March 18th, 2008 at 3:42 pm

USB Bomb - Weapon of Mass Storage!

Designs like this one get my attention while SiteHoppin. It’s an awesome USB Bomb that can store, well, let’s just say it’s more practical to put a harddisk inside it than a flash memory. Besides, you could probably fit several harddrives in this weapon of mass storage.

Like it?

Well, I believe it’s only a concept right now.

Designed by Mexico City industrial designer Joel Escalona.  (Awesome designs Joel!)

Click below to check out some of other his USB work.

Virgin Galatic, 3 Hour Space Travel, ready for reservations, can you afford it?

Virgin Galatic, 3 Hour Space Travel, ready for reservations, can you afford it?2

Virgin Galatic, 3 Hour Space Travel, ready for reservations, can you afford it?

I first saw an article about Virgin’s Richard Branson on Wired magazine couple months ago. Virgin announced that it was launching a public service where people can experience zero-gravity.

Basically, Virgin is taking space travel into reality for normal people like you and me.

Anyways, I was SiteHoppin’ along for some random Entrecard tech blogs and found a blog post that now you can go make your reservations.

How much does it cost?

Flights require three days of training and cost 200k with a 20k deposit.

Wow, it sounds like a lot of fun, especially if you get to be weightless.

What do you get?

The Mother Ship known as Space Ship Two ( 2nd version of spaceship ) flies to an altitude of about 50,000 feet and disconnects a separate space ship. This rocket ship fires up and shoots into outer space at about 360,000 feet, for the ride of your life. Passengers will experience 3 to 4 g’s during the initial launch into space. The zero gravity environment is said to last about 5 minutes before its decent back to earth. The whole trip takes about 2 1/2 hours.

Although the whole trip only lasts about two and half hours, if you got money to burn, this might be better than most “earthy” experiences such as skydiving, snowboarding, etc…etc…  If you are interested, go get a spot for your first space travel here.

Automatic Ball Throwing Machine for your Dog!

Automatic Ball Throwing Machine for your Dog!

Automatic Ball Throwing Machine for your Dog!2

Automatic Ball Throwing Machine for your Dog!3

Check out this really cool “automatic ball throwing machine” for your dog. Set it on and your dog will play tirelessly while you can focus on working from home or doing your dishes.

We couldn’t find any sources other than this Tennis ball throwing machine patent and a simliar device called GoDogGo!. We think it’s basically a tennis ball throwing machine that can be used for your dog.

Even better, you could probably hack one up yourself if you were a good hacker.

For video, click below.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! - Brooklyn Brewery is the ‘real’ Green Beer!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! - Brooklyn Brewery is the ‘real’ Green Beer!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! - Brooklyn Brewery is the ‘real’ Green Beer!2

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Make sure to get that Easter egg and your Irish lunch and dinner.

On a green note, Brooklyn Brewery claims to be the ‘real’ Green Beer with its brewing facility souped up with wind-generated electricity:

Brooklyn Brewery, located on Brewer’s Row in Brooklyn, New York, is one of a handful of breweries around the country that uses sustainable energy when producing its beer.

Its choice of method is wind power, which provides 100 percent of the brewery’s energy needs, making the 1,658,000 gallons of beer it produces green year-round. Brooklyn Brewery’s energy bills are 10 percent to 13 percent higher than they would be otherwise, but its operators say leaning on alternative energy just makes sense.

When I use to work at Comfile, I did work with a lot of these engineers that were working on wind-generated electricity. It IS very interesting subject from engineering perspective also.

These days, it’s very common to seeing more businesses going green. Especially since today is about being ‘green’, whether that’s about getting super drunk or saving earth, it’s a good day to celebrate the greenness.

On the side note, we are glad to announce that Keetsa, one of the green blogs I manage, has got its products on The View show on ABC! Make sure to check it out as one of my favorite HGTV green hosts, Carter Oosterhouse is the one telling people about Keetsa eco-friendly mattresses.

Why are/aren’t you wearing green today?

Multi-touch interface coming soon by T-Online over at CeBIT 2008

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Design, Video by max on the March 16th, 2008 at 11:34 pm

Remember our multi-touch interface post way back? (Well I can’t find the post but we have a video of Multi-touch interface over at DaBomb.TV)

You can also go to the TED conference website for reference.

Anyways, here’s a video of T-online’s multi-touch interface at CeBIT 2008. There’s no other details other than people are playing with it and I am really jealous. (or joulous is it?)

iPhone has really done this with their small LCD screen, let’s watch as the world unfolds with more bigger user interfaceless LCDs.

Get your Used Macs and Mac parts at dvwarehouse.com!

Posted in Apple, Computer, Consumer by max on the March 16th, 2008 at 5:50 pm

Get your Used Macs and Mac parts at dvwarehouse.com!Get your Used Macs and Mac parts at dvwarehouse.com!2

This is a paid review through ReviewMe.

Check out some of these great deals online for your used Macs and Mac parts needs over at dvwarehouse.com.

Pre-owned stuff they are selling right now:

I could get bunch of these pre-owned iMac 500Mhz 128mb 20GB with CD player for like $129! (and set them up to do some automation work for me, don’t know what to use it for but…)

If you are broke and you are student, you have to check out some of the deals here, why pay for new stuff when you get them almost less than half off?

Plus, this online store has PageRank of 5 on its main page, most likely a good sign. (Did you know I look at PageRank before I buy anything online? You can download Google Toolbar here and check it out yourself.)

I admit I own 4 refurbished PCs myself, and probably will get bunch of these Macs in the future too. They seem much cheaper than refurbished PCs for what I am trying to accomplish. If you have a kid who is just starting out on computers, refurbished might be the best way to go and let them get used to typing. Yes, you can then save money on “learn to type” software for all those older computers. Better yet, I bet you can download those old softwares free.

Check out DVWarehouse.com here.

DIY - Frontier Labels for adding graphics to your next product

DIY - Frontier Labels for adding graphics to your next product

This is a paid review on ReviewMe.

Check out Frontier Labels for your next graphics job, whether that’s preparing a sample for your next client meeting or it’s for your mom-and-pop online store.

It looks like they’ve got a wide range of sizes for your next project that requires labels. I am even thinking of ordering one of their free samples for my websites.

DIY - Frontier Labels for adding graphics to your next product2

Looks like they have some great pressure sensitive machines. I tell ya, I’ve tried some printing companies and it came out horrible. Frontier Labels allow you to get free samples so it looks like you got nothin’ to lose on that part. It’s a great thing when companies stand behind their products simply by offering samples. Which, I might add, these labels probably get used a lot for another sample.

They also offer Artwork help, which means they are probably not another online mom-and-pop store. This company has been around since 2004, most likely a great company to get your labels done.

Another great feature is their automated Instant Quote, so you can find out how much it’s going to cost you.

Lastly, they do offer 1-day shipping, which would probably most critical in the labels business.

Has anyone tried this company? If so, please leave a comment.
