DIY HACK - HOWTO build your own in-car PC!

Here’s a good one on how to build your own in-car PC! Although I wouldn’t recommended as people woud probably rob you as quickly as you install it.
As a marine electrician I’ve installed a few desktops in yachts to avoid the above mentioned problems so when I bought a used Grand Caravan in July and it had this empty space between the front seats I thought, why not? The first task was to measure the distance between the seats and see if anyone made a case that could fit there.

Charge your gadgets for free
There is an idea that by producing a sophisticated piece of cloth, you will be able to charge up all of your gadgets by somehow connecting to it, this is not static electricity, which you get when rubbing your shoes on the carpet, this is something completely different.

The cloth would be made up with nanogenerators built into the fabric, there would be millions of these tiny generators and every time the fabric is stretched or pulled there will be a small electric charge produced.
Its early days, but this could be promising for the future.

Phone powered by AAA batteries
It’s about time that a mobile phone maker got their act together and finally designed a phone that could take an AAA battery even if it is only in an emergency, this would save so much hassle with batteries going flat etc.

The Philips Xenium NRG phone is already in production and will be able to use these normal or rechargeable batteries which can be picked up for a small amount of cash and no hassle.
The phone is due to be launched sometime in April 2008.

Telephone booth fish tank
Yes it had to happen some time and now some one has just gone and done it.

This looks as if it should be in some sort of sci fi film, which will account for the darkness and the size of the fish inside the telephone booth. I wonder how people have actually open the door of the phone booth, could get a bit messy!

The compressed air bike
This is a great idea out the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, this bike will use a pneumatic system rather than that of a chain, this makes the ride smoother as when the pedals are used these will then make compressed air to push through the bike and then turn the wheels in a smooth action.

The frame of the bike is made from a vacuum formed metal, which has been heated to very high temperatures and as for the tyres, these are light completely air tight rubber which in all adds to the smoother ride.
