Playstation that tracks your face!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Games, Video by max on the February 29th, 2008

This is kinda cool… except who still uses Playstation? They should have really put this on a PS2 or PS3 at least.

As you can see in the video it works great, and would be brilliant for duck-and-cover maneuvering in first-person shooters. However, as you might guess, support for games has yet to be announced

Hackers Use SaaS To Auction FTP Passwords, Inject Code

Posted in Business, News, Yahoo by max on the February 28th, 2008

Here’s some hackers auctioning off FTP passwords of top 100 sites on Alexa.

The software uses an eBay-like trading interface to qualify the stolen accounts in terms of the country where the server is located and the Google page ranking of the compromised server. Cybercriminals use the information to set a price for the compromised FTP credentials so they can be resold to other cybercriminals or adjust an attack on more prominent sites. The software also allows cybercriminals to use the FTP credentials to automatically inject HTML IFrame tags into Web pages on the compromised server.

Diebold Accidentally Leaks 2008 Election Results Early

Posted in Consumer, Politics, Stupid by max on the February 28th, 2008

Lol… Diebold has a bug in their system… go figure… they need to get another company to make a voting machine, or better yet, move that voting to a web application. They should really re-do the voting this year, this is bs.  (this is a joke btw, don’t take it serously. haha)

Diebold, the company run by unscrupulous republicans that manufactures crappy, easily-hacked voting machines, has done a bang-up job of pretty much destroying many people’s confidence in the legitimacy of the democratic process. No one is better at calling out such depressing aspects of our country with biting humor like The Onion, who here tell us about how all the fun of the election this year was ruined because Diebold accidentally leaked the results ahead of time.

Preview of Google’s GPhone with the Android Linux OS

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Google, Linux, cell phones by max on the February 28th, 2008

Check out a preview of the new GPhone, basically a Samsung phone with Google’s Linux Android operating system.I think it’s got great browser which I dig the most. There’s also street view from GoogleMaps but I guess that can be useful.

Perhaps most impressive is the Street View mode of Google Maps, pulled down to the 3G prototype reference phone running at a relatively mild 300MHz. That reference design, which may or may not reflect hardware that will run Android in the future, had another interesting feature: a trackball, currently seen on Danger Hiptops and Blackberries.
